It's Sunday

It's Sunday, the day the Lord rested, but Virginia can't. SL is still asleep and I, well I am trying to decide what to do today. Karren has answered my questions and Robyn now knows how to shop at Goodwill. It is sleeting and icy and 35 degrees outside. Ah Ha, my denim Mardi Gras jump suit!!! That's it!!!! I am going to wear that and we are going out to the lake and check on my boat. With winds up to 60 - 70 miles an hour last week I want to make sure the cover is still on it and if the marina is open I want to talk to the guys about putting trim tabs on her. No, not SL, on my boat. SL is trimmed out perfect and running smooth as silk!! It is called, who would have guessed, "Strange Magic."
Oh, my denim jumpsuit, it zips up the front and has all these neat beaded designs on the front, not gaudy, but like someone from Texas going to Mardi Gras might wear - no offense to anyone from Texas - it's actually kind of cute!
And tonight we will probably go to the Park and see what is happening in our local "cosmopolitan club." For that, it's always a mini-skirt and heels. Those gay guys could care less anyway and SL would mangle any lesbian that hit on me!
Have a great day ladies! I will!
Love ya,
Virginia

Freezing rain here, inches of ice on everything, foot of snow on the ground..... And I'm just going to start ripping the old tile off the bathrrom floor... My SO and I spent thousands yesterday in everything I need to completely remodel the master bath.... included heating pads that go under the tile!!! No more cold feet in the morning....
So you go play with you boat, in your warmish weather.... grrrrrr
Have a wonderful day.....

Freezing here also. My youngest daughter is moving back into our home. She lived with her mom the last 6 years, is 18yo but going through a serious eating disorder. I will sending her to some form of counseling at a place that specializes in that. She has finally admitted her problem and asked for help.
I won't have as much time to dress at home but I gladly give that up for a few months of having my daughter around before she heads to college.
Tax time .. have to get the books ready...

Have fun Virginia!! I admire your openess. We have the same at home but some Vermonters have big signs that say, "TAKE BACK VERMONT". Can we say rednecks?! I want to go steal them and burn them. Then I just think how close minded they are. You are an inspiration to the "newbies".

Today is an indoor day because the weather is sooooo disgusting!! Our bedroom looks like a war zone while Missy picks out what she's going to wear in Vegas and it's tremendous fun! We had six inches of snow and now freezing rain so tonight we'll build a roaring fire in the fireplace and settle in to watch the red carpet and the Oscars! Everyone have a delicious day!

Yesterday we did go to the marina and checked on the boat,
Strange Magic, and all was well. We did an excellent job of covering it up several months ago and it's still in place, even with all the high winds we've had recently.

The marina's office was closed, though, so no one was introduced to Virginia - this time!
On the way back from the marina we stopped at Lowe's. We did get some looks from the guys, but nothing out of the ordinary. After a stop at Zaxby's drive-thru, which is not "fast food" as one would think, we came home. Their food was good, but we decided we prefer KFC. We finished putting together some storage cabinets I bought, and then watched the NASCAR race. Because it was still raining, and it was barely 36F, we decided not to go out to the movies or The Park (the cosmopolitan club). Instead, Virginia fixed dinner and we watched "The Chronicle of Riddick" on cable - I won't even begin to describe the futuristic/sci-fi movie, but it was good. After that, well, let's just say that the girls went to bed early. I have no idea why we are so tired today, though.
The temps are supposed to reach the low 50's today, so I'm going to take advantage of it and get some errands done. . . and hopefully take a nap when I get back home!
Love ya!

Saturday we drove down to Hampton, VA for a quilt show. After the show we went bowling, then to supper. Spent the night and got up early for breakfast and head home. Some nasty roads developed north of Fredericksburg, and we crawled home after stopping at Sam's Club for gas and fixings for supper.
After unloading the car it was time to shovel the 6" of snow off the drive, and my truck. Had to shovel again later in the evening after the plow decided to pay a visit.
My wife moved the van hoping the plow would remove the ice left over from the previous storm, but the driver didn't come back around. So she brought the Van back, and as we were finishing up the shoveling, the plow decided he'd waited long enough, figuring we were done, and came back around again.
We fooled him though, and had moved a lot of the snow still in the road, so he was unable to fill our driveway again.

Hi, Donna! I'm glad that we didn't get all that snow - we've been lucky this winter, as we've only had one snowfall with about 3" accumulation, and no ice storm. I hope we don't get any, either!
As much as I hate the cold weather, I'd rather have a cold day than have to deal with snow or ice. As long as the sun is shining, even if it's a cold day, then I'm in a good mood!
Oh, how Virginia and I both long for the warmer winter weather of Florida!! Some day soon, we hope . . . . !!
We do hope that we'll see you at Fielden's on Friday? S. Lisa will be there, too.
Love ya!

Donna I am glad that you were able to fool the plow guy! We have a guy that plows for us. It is funny all of these rednecks up here put plows on their trucks and invade like vultures during and after a storm. Everyone needs to make a living and lately they have had the opportunity.
SL- I am with you girlfriend on Florida. My best friend (since we were 12) moved near Miami 6months after I moved back to VT. She has been trying to get us down there. I am so ready with this cold weather.

Hummm,
I guess I should feel lucky as the weather is very cold but I just put another log on the fire and roast marshmallows. Gosh so nice to be retired and watch everyone else work or dig snow. But the weathers gods have been good to Carol Ann and all the nasty weather just never hits where I live. I believe it's because I live so far back in the boondocks it can't find me. Nothing much to do except wait for hunting season to reopen in April for turkey. GOSH I just love being retired

DonnaT...SilverLady(SO).....wife and I lived in Lewisburg, WV until 2005. I know what you mean about the snowplow. One morning I had just finished shoveling the driveway, put the shovel away, walked in side and just started taking off my boots, when I heard the plow go by. Wife started giggling at me as I started putting my boots back on, so I could go out and re-shovle the front of the drive way again. While I was out, the plow came back around, stopped and the drive appolized to me. I laughed and told no need, it's not your fault. He smiled and when on his way. I have been keeping track of the weather your way and this winter has been something else. Wife and I plan to move back to Roanoke, VA when I retire in 8 years. We lived in Roanoke before we move to WV in 2001.

I'm reading about the storm you guys in the midwest had. Sounds pretty unpleasant and I hope everyones okay. We got the remnants last night but it was just a pretty, snowy night with the kids and my wife happy to have the day off from school today. My daughters did a good job of shoveling the driveway without complaining and I was very complimentary.
Yesterday, Sunday, they had a concert at our church with a variety of choirs coming. Also a little brass band which at the last minute called to say they needed another trumpet player and could I please come. So I did and they then gave me a solo on Sometimes I feel like a motherless child. I was pretty happy with it and got a lot of compliments. Plus my wife is in the choir and it's always nice to perform with her. Altogether a wonderful day ending up sitting by the fire and sleeping late today.
All guy mode. After the last few days playing dress up whenever I wanted to I kept being startled by the guy clothes but it's fine.

We kind of skipped lightly over a milestone for me yesterday or for any of us I would imagine. Think about it! Going into a Lowe's or Home Depot - dressed?! If you are in heels you have to be very careful where you walk and don't slip and slide in all the testosterone!!! I was not concerned when we went in and I guess the thing that attracted any looks we got was our heels "clicking" on the floor, but SL is right, and as most of you know - you hear high heels clicking on concrete floors and you automatically look and that is what happened. I guess my next "challenge" would be to go to the malls between, oh say 4:30 and 7:00 in the afternoon and see if I can pass the "teenage girls" kill zone!?
Love,
Virginia

Elayne just explained what the "teenage kill zone" is. How funny that you can look perfect and nobody can read you yet a snotty 16 year old reads you like that! WE gg's do look at every female, and male for that matter, when we are growing up to see where we fit. Good Luck Virginia....bring bribes

cell phone minutes.
