After the Festival

SL and I went shopping, well it's a girl thing!!! I bought some sheer to the waist black panty hose - just in case the pair I brought to wear to the "after heat" party got a run. I also got a gorgeous, wide brim floppy hat. You know, I don't remember the full price, but it was on sale for 75% off then another 30% off that and it was at Dillard's and it ended up costing me, I think, about $8.00. It's cute anyway.
We met Angie and Wendy, her SO (and yes she is very accepting of Angie and we are working on getting her to participate on the forum) - where was I? Oh, yes, we met for dinner at "The Press" which evidently caters to GLBT, but there were several table of straight folk there as well. They have a very extensive wine list which is their forte.
As a side line, and SL verified this, well, Virginia looked very nice, mid-calf length green dress, very under stated, and I could tell I was being "checked out" by several of the "straights." If you go out, you learn a sense of when you are under scrutiny, and it was not a "gheesh, look at that guy in a dress," more of a "hey, check out the blond in the green dress!" Actually makes you feel pretty!
The highlight was one of the straight ladies at one of the other tables was heading for the little girl's room and she kinda got hung up on Angie's chair and the chair of someone at a table behind us. Because of the "band" two guitar player, not loud but only one table away from us, I could not hear all the conversation other than her exclamation, "I'm caught!" The next thing I know she is kneeling at our table and Angie is converting her to a believer!!! I caught bits and pieces of the conversation with positive input to her from both Wendy and our/my very own SL!!!!!! No, we are not gay, not all CD's want to transition, most of us are heterosexual with families and have higher than average IQ's and earnings and are positive contributors to the community. Of course, this girl heard very clearly when she said, "well you are both very beautiful, and I would not have known!" It was interesting to see her facial expressions as she began to realize that we are not freaks and are really nice folk and that our GG's totally accept us for who we are!!! SL even gave her one of "our" cards with this forum address on it. I know she had never knowingly met at least a crossdresser. I know that her brain is swirling but she seemed to be very interested and Angie did a great job telling her "we are OK folk!" and she accepted it. As Angie said after she and her party of 8 left, "Just converting the world, one person at a time!!!!"
If you are in Greensboro I would recommend "The Press." The food is good, moderately priced, nice entertainment, a safe and accepting environment in a nice neighborhood. Well, I had to park a couple of blocks away, but I walk good in heels so it was fun.
The evening's entertainment was at a private club called Warehouse 29. It was a nice place, three bars, two pool tables, a large stage and very crowded. I have to admit, we did not get there until almost 11:00p and having fought that heat and changing from dinner dress to club dress and driving all the way across Greensboro and on and on, well, this gal was pretty much done in, as was SL. Then I thought we were going to be strip searched, just to get in. ID's needed, crammed into a little hallway with 10 other people, filling out membership applications, paying at a different window, getting hand-stamped, and wall to wall gays and lesbians.
Very crowded and the stage show seemed to be well done. Well, one guy had on ankle length leather chaps with the obligatory thong and, sorry SL, but he did have the cutest butt --- well, a girl can look!!!!
We toured the place as best we could, several of the CD's from the festival were in the pool room but we made our way back to the exit, told Angie and Wendy we had had enough and so had they, so we all left W29.
However, it was a nice, clean and safe place and with the right attitude, I would also recommend this place for evening entertainment. Don't know what they charge for drinks but being a private club, rules vary state to state.
All in all, it was a very nice evening.
