Hi Kimberly,
I have a small tree with only lights on it that I turn on a few times during the month.I occasionally listen to The Charlie Brown Christmas cd(Vince Guaraldi Trio,Highly recommended) or watch the occasional Christmas show.I enjoy "How the Grinch stole Christmas " the most. Not a lot of any one thing ,just enough to remind me of how much I love the holiday.A lot of people think I am strange since I love Christmas so much but I am not religious.I reply,Peace on earth is a good idea no matter how you look at it.

There are a few public radio stations around the country who do a full day of Christmas programming on June 25, exactly six months before the actual holiday. As long as it's just one day (okay, maybe a week) it's a nice reminder, especially when it's too darned hot.

So where does this activity in your life stem from?
I have heard Christmas in July all my life but it usually falls in line with a crummy sales pitch.
I'm game for fun year round and you can call fun by lots of names like Christmas in July.
There are amusement parks, places to eat, places to shop, and places to live based on this year round theme.
Like us, Who am I to judge??

I heard once that "Christmas in July" started when a young child was Diagnosed with a terminal illness and was not expected to live till that Christmas, so the whole family decided to have Christmas on July 25. They did up the house, put up a tree, bought presents, Christmas dinner, Santa Claus and the whole thing. When the neighbors found out they joined in by decorating their houses and wishing the young child a "Merry Christmas". One of the local radio stations found out and broadcasted Christmas music on July 25 for the child.
The next year the same radio station decided to start a new tridiction and had Christmas in July after that.

I am glad I am not the only strange one that likes to watch the Christmas movies during the year. At least my kids think I am strange. But kids usually think their parents are strange anyway.

While Christmas is based in religion, the loving and giving to others is also just a general humanity trait IMHO. Nothing wrong with having the loving and giving to others spirit of Christmas through out the year. I think more people need that.
