Hair styling

Post by Anne Bonny »

My wife has dementia hence, I have had to learn how to style women's hair. My wife's hairstylist taught me how to do it. After shampoo and conditioning using the vent-comb and the blow drier come all the hair forward working from the bottom of the hair on the neck forward. Next and again with the drier on low and starting at the hair at the bottom and working slowly to the top of the head. Use the vent-comb and draw the hair slowly outward with the blow drier blowing upward through the vent comb. The bangs or the hair combed over the face is done the same way. Next pick up the roller brush (2-3" diameter) and again starting with the hair at the neck line and working gradually toward the top of the scalp roll and draw the hair outward while holding the barrel of the blow drier like a glass with the air blowing out the bottom over the top of the roller brush rolling or turning the brush continuously like twirling spaghetti. Finally pick up the pick comb and part the hair in the center at the top of the head, except for the bangs which stay over the face for now. comb the hair downward around the head then with the blow drier on high speed and blowing toward the rear of the hair follow the comb downward (this curls the hair toward the rear at the bottom of the hair line on the sides. Final step and using some hairspray use the comb and the drier to blow the bangs over the top of the head and around the sides. - Not sure that's clear but thought I would share what I have learned and now do every morning for my wife.

It's nice that you do that for your wife, and I reckon it takes a bit of time to accomplish.

I wonder if it would be easier to get your wife a perm?

I don't mind, probably takes a few minutes and she looks like the woman I have always known which is important to me and I am sure she appreciates it too. She did have some perms when she was in her 30's, one of my favorits was of her with a perm, but there are many nice pictures without one as well :)
