alteration

Post by Needra »

This mite be long. My alterations gal (whom I've been going to for almost a year) said, Needra would you mind not coming around for a while as my daughter is out of school and will be working here till schools starts again? I'm of 2 minds on it. 1 you don't want your daughter to see you altering a dress for >look close that might be a guy< type person 2 look needra, your too whacked, I don't want your business. Its kinda left me with a bad feeling: I think I understand tho.1 Don't expose your son or daughter to devient behavior. 2 (talking to her daughter) no, no dear all my clients are not that way :-k

Needra ,

Tell your alterations gal to shove her business up her A^^^

You dont have to put up with that from anyone , you would have a case for discrimination if that happened in Aus' you could lodge a comlaint with the anti-discrimination board.

Hi all,

Needra,

She doesn't want you to come around for a while? Make that while permanent. Some of her customers's "green" isn't green enough for her? She should take up a business where she doesn't have to deal with--oh, ick!--people!

On the other hand, I also understand that she's fully within her rights to choose her clientèle. Of course, with an attitude like hers, it might be a very small one (who knows? maybe that's all she needs?). That a business owner slights us because of something we may do or say is one thing; it's another thing to be slighted because of who we are.

There are a couple of ways around this: 1) Do business with TG-friendly shops, and 2) learn to sew (I'm serious!).

Whatever you do, I think it's important that you let her know how she made you feel. This kind of feedback might give her the opportunity to reflect on her professionalism (or lack thereof).

Good Luck!

Love,
CJ

Hi Needra,

I think CJ put it just right ( though Merinda's suggestion has a little bit of a kick to it)

I think that you need to feel OK, if it were me and I went away with my tail between my legs ( that's what I normally do) It would leave a pain, if I went off it with her, I would feel guilty. So for me a polite letter stating how I felt would be choice NO1.

Best of luck with this, however you handle things

Needra ,

Take the issue up on talk-back radio claiming discrimination , If you name the shop publicly she will have to defend her actions publicly .
People will sympathize with you and her clientele will drop off , she will have a reputation of " a not so friendly business".

If you dont want to go that far but rather tell her how you were made to feel, I would suggest you do so when she has a shop full of customers.

All the best in whatever action you take

Ouch, Needra! #-o What a way to say "I've been merely tolerating you"! So she'd like you not to come around for a while. :-k Forever is a while--you might ask if forever is good for her.

Hi Needra!

!!!yes!!! I must concur with the gals here. You don't need that type of business. She just lost a very good client.

I'm sure there are plenty of tailors out there who won't be "embarrased" to have your business. You money is just as green as everyone else's.

Hi all. Thanks for your input. I feel way better about it now. It wasn't a nice feeling. Shes lost a customer.thats for sure  Your right cj and virgina, I gotta learn to sew, I'm such a nut about proper fitting clothes or I get an idea for a little design change --I could save myself a small fortune  Nee
