Hi girls,
I forgot to add that it was more than my curiosity that caused me to do this. I have also been continually telling people I am a crossdresser, and joking about it with them so they don't have to feel uncomfortable, as they were taught.
I do feel like an ambassador, and I feel obligated to tell people the truth about us, because everyone who has a positive experience with me will tell someone. If I can make them laff, or just make them smile. Have some meaningful conversation with them. Anything to replace the fear put in them by society.
I think people are more worried that we are uncomfortable with ourselves, just like the stereotype of disabled persons, who only wanted to be treated normal. but people are so worried that they are having terrible lives they treat them with a standoff phony approach. Once people realize I am comfortable with myself, and comfortable with them, being myself. It seems to put them at ease.
I also have a basic philosophy that I have always followed because I know I have certain strengths, interacting with people has always been one of them. When the contractors of my town desperately needed somone to speak up for them, and no one would, it was me who addressed the City Counsel in the most eloquent speech I have ever given. When the men of my union wanted to have a more representative officers, it was me who spoke up and got a new local meeting started, with local officers. When an employer tried to get all of his employees to sign non-compete agreements under threat of being fired, it was me who refused, and dared him to fire me.
I have said it before, and I will say it again. Those who can, should. There are many good people out there who just do not have the ability to speak up for themselves, which is my gift. But all of you have your own gifts, and you should use those gifts not just to benifit you, but to benefit the most people you can. It is incredibly rewarding, and it may help give meaning to your life as it has mine.
We were not meant to live alone, we do best when we live in society. Just as this society here, this forum, makes me better and stronger than I am alone. Because I can draw on the strengths and experiences of all of you.
When I boil it all down, I just want three things. To be loved, To be Secure, and To be accepted.
Love always,
Elizabeth
I just had to ask.
