WHY WHY WHY
The Big Word WHY.
This has been on my mind a lot lately. I am having a hard time with my own reason's of my own why. I know the HOW it came to be but I do not understand the WHY.
Ladies or Gentlemen, which ever applies. I am looking for your reasons for your WHY.
I am having major problems in my mind, with this one. I have done my killing in Vietnam and at getting to the top of my professional life. I do not need another thing to have to drive me crazy but this does.
So what do you'all think. Gelinda.

There is no answer to WHY. It just IS.
Something in our genes? Our hormones? Both? The way we were raised? Could be any number of reasons. I subscribe to the belief that I was born this way, and only found out about it, unlocked the door, at around 10~12 years old.
Some don't unlock that door until later in life, like what appears to be happening to Maggie.
So stop looking for the WHY and simply accept what IS.

Dear Gelinda:
It's a question that all of us ask and some pursue for years. Some people come up with explanations that work for them, but whether based on intuition, religious faith, imagination, or "gut feeling", none of these has the factual foundation that will allow them to be universally applied.
As one who spent years running up and down her own blind alleys, my take is that you might as well try to figure out why you were blessed with one color of hair, while everyone else in your family has a different shade. Not every "why" has an answer (if you're a parent, you certainly know that). As Beautiful Gal so wisely implied, sometimes you just have to accept.
Best wishes and warm hugs,
.......Tamara Segunda

Thanks ladies but I have never been one to accept anything, the word WHY has always been a crazy thing for me. I have to know WHY. That is one reason it took me years to accept the Lord, I have to know the WHY. It comes from my troubleshooting that I do on a normal daily basis. Gelinda.

If you're interested in the WHY of so many things (maybe even WHY you wonder WHY) you may benefit from reading C.G. Jung's "Answer to Job". I was raised Roman Catholic and struggled with many things besides cross-dressing growing up. "Answer to Job" was the first time I've read a plausible explanation for why we as individuals are posed with so many concerns. It was a surprisingly good read.

Dear Gelinda:
With that kind of determination, maybe you should consider looking for a cure for cancer.
Seriously, I applaud your persistence, even as I extend my sympathies for your frustration. I do understand the impulse, though. As an old-time troubleshooter of avionics systems, I'll share with you that the solution to the most intractable problem I ever dealt with came to me out of thin air, months after I'd given up consciously trying to solve it. None of my mates had been able to fix this particular trouble, either, but one evening during a coffee break, it just came to me. During all the time I racked my brains trying to find the answer, all I accomplished was to lose a lot of sleep; it was only when I let go and allowed my subconscious to go to work that the solution finally emerged.
Best of luck,
.......Tamara Segunda.

Gelinda,
I am not going to give you the standard line here. The reason is, that somewhere inside of you, for a whole host of reasons, including your genes, your fetal developement, your environment growing up, your experience with both genders, and even what you eat, has caused something to happen in your brain, and now you just want to.
It's like anything you like. Do you search to find the reason your favorite food is your favorite food? Do you search to find out why some songs move you, yet others don't, even though they may move someone else? I suspect you don't. I suspect you just accept it.
I have struggled with this and asked the same question, and refused the standard answer also. There is only one reason that you dress, and that is that you have a desire to. You want to. It is no different than your desire to eat. You can spend the rest of your life trying to figure out the exact reason that your body triggers chemicals that trigger neuro transmitters that make you hungry, but it won't change the fact that you get hungry. Nor will finding the exact reason that you desire to dress female, change that desire.
Here is a simple mind experiment. See if you can change your favorite color? Pick another color and just love it. Really make and effort to make this your new favorite color. If you can do this, perhaps I am wrong, but I suspect I am not. You are who you are, your favorite color, your favorite food, your favorite clothes.
I believe that what you will find is that the reason is academic, because knowing why, won't change anything anyway.
Love always,
Elizabeth

Gelinda,
WHY! WHY! WHY! Is it so important for you to know?
If anyone of us could supply you with an answer that would satisfy you;
WHAT! WHAT! WHAT! would it do for you, or me, or us?
HOW! HOW! HOW! would that benefit you, or me, or us?
I am no longer prepared to let something like that destroy, or steal my peace.
I am no longer willing to allow something like that to be allowed to torment me.
That path is nothing more than a thief, call it by it's appropriate name, and deal with it, then move on.
Love Darlene.

I have no professional knowledge, except from my own experience. I get a 'blissful' feeling, or high, when dressed. Does that result from a brain reaction similar to a narcotic high? I don't know. But if it is, that would be at least one reason why I continue to dress---to experience that high over and over again.
That doesn't explain why I started, but may hold a key to why I continue.
Continuing in this train of thought, I read in todays paper about a pill from France that may prevent euphoric feelings from narcotics, smoking, etc. The proposed use is to block the euphoric feelings of such actions and therefore remove the need for the addiction. Wonder if this will work for CD's if my premise is correct?
Of course, we can't stop unless we want to.
Hugs, Cindy Michelle

Hi Gelinda,
It's great to see you back in the forum. Ah, WHY... the oldest question in the history of the world.
Today of all days I started my new job. Oddly enough I spent the evening just contemplatoing all of the events of the last 12 months and found myself asking "why" as well...
Whether we find an answer or not, let's at least hope that we can find some more insight...

Hi all,
Gelinda,
I don't know why, but I do think it's important that you ask the question. Maybe, like Tamara said, the answer will one day come to you out of the blue. Asking why or how is the one thing that sets human beings apart. Said Aristotle: "All philosophy begins in wonder" (at the time, philosophy--a blanket term for "knowledge"--included the physical sciences and psychology).
It's good to give in to our natural curiosity. However, Darlene has a point; if your inability to find a suitable answer is making you stressed or unhappy, maybe you should consider easing up a little on this particular track. It just may be, also, that some things don't admit of an explanation. Even so, we shouldn't let that prevent us from enjoying them.
Love,
CJ
