My first purchase would be a pure white wig, sort of in the style of a cleo wig but not quite the same. Also on that day I bought the make-up I would need for that night. The lipstick was a dark-dark purple. I bought the wig and most of the make-up at Manic-Panic in NY. The clothes I went out in were the same male clothes I wore at the time, tight jeans, loose top. At this point in my dressing I wanted the hair and make-up, the fem clothes would come later.

Hi Girls

Reitmans ... Mauve BabyDoll set with spaghetti straps and French Panties ...
(actually garbage quality but for the $$$ not a bad start to supplement my boxes full of "borrowed" intimates) ...
for all the "typical" reasons, I've purged several times in the last 20 years ...
working in the Ladies Wear biz has tuned my eye pretty good ... maybe it's good I don't have any $$$ for luxuries these days

But when I do again ... *LOOK OUT* ... "Mothers - get your children off the street 'cause I'm comin' t' town and I got shoppin' on my mind !!!"

HI All,
I was about 11 when I made my first purchase. I went into the neighborhood Safeway grocerey store and bought a pair of pantyhose. As I recall they were taupe in color. It was easy, I was easy, and besides most everyone there knew my mom, and knew I had older sisters. They probly just thot I was buying for them. I've never at all been embarrassed to buy my clothes, careful, but never embarrassed!

my first purchases were a pair of black 3 inch heels (£10 in a shoe shop sale), White bra and panties (£5 each from a discount retail store), white blouse and black lycra mini (£10 and £6). I was 16 and they came out of my first pay packet.

Interesting topic.

I'm noticing a common theme in hose hear. Well, I, being the unique one that I am, started out with buying panties. My first time was at wal-mart at 2:00 AM. I had gotten off of work a little bit before then from McHell, and went to browse around a little bit in the lingerie section. I found a pair of blue ones that I really like, so I took them up to the register and paid for them. I was so scared because the cashier was some old lady with a really mean look on her face. I then walked away and retruned with a bag of gummy orange slices *begins drooling remebering how tasty they were* I then went to the old lady trying not to make eye contact, as per it probably would have turned me into stone. I then walked out, putting my headphones and cool swing hat on as I walked home.

I dont have the confidence to buy anything femme from a shop - I blush quite easily and that would probably give it away! However, I do enjoy trawling through a mail order catalogue and buying from their. Plus I can spread the payments over 20 weeks!!
And you thought I was dead.

I remember it like it was yesterday :) It was october 1993 when I bought 2 pairs of white panties and 4 pairs of pantyhose from a mail order company. I also bought lots of everyday stuff and some male clothing ´cause I thought someone might be wondering why a man wants to order only female underwear. I was young and stupid then, now I´m only stupid :) and have no problem ordering only female stuff.

I bought lots of stuff mail order from an outfit that sold nylon undies and nighties targetted specifically at men. Some of the stuff could have been described as unisex, but they also sold babydoll nighties. What a shame they went out of business.

My first truly femme purchases were made when I was in the Middle East and the sales assistants were all Indians. With the cultural gap I suppose they didn't automatically make the same assumptions about why I would want to buy panties as would have been the case in my home environment. I got bolder and bought nighties, then swimsuits, and finally I had the bravado to select some bras. Everything had to be asked for and brought out, so some of the conversations in broken English were difficult, and often I found I couldn't keep up the pretence and had to make a quick exit, noting that I couldn't use that shop again.

Later on when I returned home I found it was quite easy to select things at the charity shops that used to keep a decent range of lingerie (most of them don't anymore). Is that for hygienic reasons, or do they want to keep us CDers out?

Now I find I can go anywhere and buy anything, as long as it is on display.

Very similar to CJ, I purchased a pair of these real cheap, no-frills pantyhose from a Pathmark store back in 1988. I was 16.

I didn't even bother to check for what size or color I wanted. I just briskly walked down the aisle and did a quick snatch.

Needless to say I was nervous as hell walking up to the cashier. It was a teenage girl only a couple of years older than I was, and yes she gave this strange stare. I pretended to look through a magazine thinking "let's just get this over with...ring me up already!" rotf

I am still waiting for my first femme purchase of clothes in a shop. But ahhhaaa, I am going on a bus ride with my Mum to a cityabout an hr away to go shopping on Friday :) Perfect time to buy some clothes I think, cos I shouldn't bump into anyone I know :)

It's cool reading all ya stories, least I know I'm not the only one totally nervous but also reallly excited at the idea of being in a girls clothes shop to buy my own clothes :)

Sophie, have you thought about going enfeme shopping with your with your Mum. Or would that be too much too soon.
I have already posted my first purchase of girls clothes. but i do remember buying clothes at a 2nd hand store when I first came to Colorado, I bought a back tied pair (you guessed it) jeans pink and light blue stripes. the sales girl was so helpful and cute. I am sure she knew all this was for me. The girl also showed me a pink top that would go nice she said. Then showed me a lovely light yellow sleeveless dress and also sold me a black belt to go with it. That was such a great shop, closed shortly after I started dressing pretty routinaly. I should of gotten her number because I think she had mine. keep smilin, keep dressin, keep postin.......Kristen

Not yet, I'd poop meself lol

Kristen, I've often thought about going in some 2nd hand stores because I'd feel more at ease with the older ladies that are normally in them shops.

That girl in that shop sounds well cool, pink pinkk pinkk :) Have you still got those clothes?
