I and I'm sure many others know exactly what you mean and feel the same way when I look in the mirror when dressed, although my skills at applying make-up least room for a lot of improvement.

I do see some similarities, both pictures show a picture of a face with
two eyes, a nose and a mouth. I definetly prefer the one on the left.

I think you look great.
If I was holding the picture on the left in my hand and you passed me on
the street, I'd honestly never associate the two.
