I own two that I purchased on e-bay, bought about a year apart. the first one is a size 18 and is sweeper floor lenght with a full veil. When I got it, I couldn't wait to try it on. But I thought to myself, I really need to get ready for this. All the prep and make up and hair. Well, I got to that point and had my pretty 3 tier hoop set aside to put on under the gown. I slowly slipped into the gown and pulled it up on me and looked in the mirror and fell in love with it. It was just so beautiful. As I reached in back to pull the zipper up, I got about half way and all of a sudden, I realized it must be the wrong size. I slipped out of it and looked at the tag and yes, it read size 18. Couldn't possibly be. It had to be a mistake. I went to e-bay and looked at what I had bought and read all the caption and info. It had said that these gowns run very tight, and to buy one size up and if nec. have it altered to fit. Well I thought to myself, I can diet till it fits just perfect. Yes, sure, well that was a year ago and It's still a wall hanger. I bought a second one not too long ago with train and veil, but bought a size 20. It came in and to my amaizement, it fit, but was awfully snug. A friend of mine said one day she'll fit it to me. In the mean time girls, if you buy a wedding gown, I would suggest you try a few on some where before buying one on e-bay. They are not returnable. Where do I wear it??????? Well, just the fact that I own two of them, I can try them on and wear them any time I want. It's a gorgeous feeling I have to say. Sorry this was so long. I got carried away. Probably should have been a seperate thread. :?

Hi Julie,

Yes, a while back my wife had to go out of town on business. I had dressed before, but I saw an opportunity to try on the most feminine of dresses - her wedding gown. It was a ballgown style with long scalloped sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. This was a couple of years after we got married and she still had her sheer white stockings, white body shaper, white pumps and full petticoat. I wore them all! The only thing I lacked was the veil :( . After I did my face I looked and felt like a pretty bride. I couldn't believe how heavy the satin dress felt. I stayed that way for awhile before changing into a simple skirt and blouse and enjoyed the rest of my day.

I highly recommend it!
Hugs!

Ok here's the scoop on bridal and formal gowns. Most are "vanity" sizes, so a size 16 might say size 12, so the bride can say she wore a size 12 at her wedding. Now, some places like Loralie, actually ya gotta order a size up (thats where I got my ball gown, and my friend Cheryl told me about that. Some of you might have met her at Be-All, she was the official photographer). So, without making the GGs here mad, I guess all I can say its very weird sizing-wise. On ebay, read the extra dimension stuff closely. At Ross, a sz 12 is a sz 12...unless it comes from Viet-nam....guess they don't have boobies there, 'cause found a really nice dress that fit, but not up there. So, what am I saying? Keep your receipts girls, 'cause sizes are for sure whacky

Wedding Dress

Post by Martina »

I attended a friends/neighbour's wedding a few years ago. The couple were leaving directly from the reception to go on honeymoon. They asked me if I wouldn't mind keeping all the dresses in my house till they returned. I put on my deepest male voice and and pretended I wouldn't be too embarassed to keep them in my bachelor pad. I admit I waited until dark to take them out of the car. The Brides dress was far too petite for me but one of the bridesmaids dresses fitted perfectly. It was a "princess" style with big skirts and attached crinolines and had a floral pattern. I would put on my prettiest ruffled panties, stockings and suspenders, step into the dress and dance around to music swishing the dress all over the place. I especially enjoyed the sensation of walking downstairs. The air would inflate the dress and it would billow up all around. I probably lost a few pounds just going up and down the stairs. I did not have to worry about keeping it clean as they all still had to go to the cleaners following the reception. They left them with me for a whole month and were embarassed about this when they came to collect them. I told them I had left them in the spare room and totally forgot about them. But it was like giving away a puppy when the walked away with "my" dress. I since bought a similar one in a trift store for only about $10 but had to purge it when I moved home.
