Paula,
that whole line of thought really opens up a series of curious questions. If it is "ladies" top, slacks, shoes, etc. then who decided that it was "ladies"? The manufacturer? Is it just because of the label sewn in, so if I cut out the label then what? Once I was knitting myself a sweater, and the one I was married to at that time said "that is a ladies sweater?" Now how could that be? I made it and I made it for myself, so that pretty much made it my sweater. I don't care what she thought it looked like, it was anything I chose to name it.
But the manufacturer doesn't really care who wears it, as long as they pay for it. Probably they only worry about saying "ladies size 10" because there is no such thing as a mens size 10. Then when you get in to "small", "medium", "large" then all bets are off and it could be womens, mens, or martians, nobody knows.
Then what proves this whole business is nonsense, is that women now have styles of clothes labelled "menswear" and "boyfriend". But maybe they aren't womens styles, maybe the are supposed to be mens styles and women are just buying them without permission.

I suspect that most of the time anyone can wear anything and nobody else cares, as long as it is not too different to what is expected, there fore I could wear any sort of black trousers with my dinner jacket, but a pair of jeans would be just as out of place as a skirt, it's all down to perceptions, but then it is down to our perception of what is female clothing that makes us want to wear it. Would I like to wear those trousers as much if they were not "women's" trousers?, would I get a thrill out of wearing "unisex" hosiery? somehow I doubt it.

Just because you don't believe it, that doesn't mean it's not true

you are right Paula. Even though there are some places that make hosiery for men (Comfilon), I would never buy it, I prefer my sexy nylons and stockings from Penti. And there is the Macabi Travel Skirt, which I will get one of these days, and they make a men's version but I will buy the womens model. I'm not even sure there's any difference between the mens and women. I think there are a few more colors available in women though.

Speaking of color, that's one reason why I lean towards women's tennies; they have colors I like. Supposedly there is some slight differences in the cut of the shoes, but I haven't noticed. As for jeans, there is definitely a difference so much so that two companies specifically told me the measurements were proprietary.

Back to the lingerie question. I find my lingerie cut better for my bod. I don't know why, but I feel my panties have fit me better than any boy undies so I won't be without them except to be washing.
