Seasons of change

Post by Merinda »

In order to avoid hijacking Carol Anns topic "when is it time to say NO", I will start afresh-
Well in my case I still believe that I quit in 2008 but still linger on in 2009, I feel like a manager who has quit but stayed on to take a low possition in the company.
I'll probably take time out again soon , however this time I will need to use the time to consider which direction to take.

RETURN - to the type of dressing as proven to work in the past
REFURBISH - to replace all with a new model Merinda
REMOVE - self explanatory
I was cleaning out some old and recent photos last weekend to make room , some of my past photosessions had an excess amount of shots that need not be kept.
I reduced my photos and was happy with my new look Merinda photo albums , I had a pile of deleted photos on my bed from the last 6 years ready to be trashed. I noticed some recent photos next to others that were a few years old , the difference was astonishing , I couldn't believe how bad I now look compared with say " Merinda 2006".
My first reaction is that I should quit , however the desire remains so I need to think this out carefully .

I think a break from CDing is in order to have a clear head to decide my future , the three "R"s in my quote are my only options , I was happy with my look a few years back so I think "RETURN" is probably my best option to attempt after a break.

This also happens to me. Some days I am just not happy with how I look and it is very upsetting.Usually these are the days when I am tired or stressed. Sometimes its from not giving my male self enough time. From what I can put together from observations and being around real women is that they have these same troubles. Is it part of being feminine that you are not always happy with how you look? I would be intrested to see what the SO's and GG's have to say about this. Either way I dont feel that this is a reason one should give up dressing.Mainly because I believe that this is genetic in most of us and stopping is just not possible.

The solution would seem to be that if we or anyone is not happy with their looks is to do what you can to change them. Then we just need to accept ourselves as is and be the best person we can be. Looks are only skin deep and what is inside is important, as is how we express our inner selfs. It all sounds easy but we all know its not.

As one ages, it becomes more and more difficult to look like you did in the past. That is just in the nature of getting more mature. The most effective thing to do is modify your look. Different hair style, different makeup, different clothing. One of the saddest things I saw at BE-ALL Chicago was older people trying to dress like much, much younger people in clothes and wig styles that were neither flattering to their very male, more mature bodies, nor their faces. Yet they seemed to think they were "all that" while others snickered behind their backs. A 50 year old just cannot pull of a twenty year old rock star look. Peirodically changing one's look to reflect maturing bodies and faces and still looking your best and reflecting your inner youth remains the best way to deal with aging, IMHO.

HI Carollynn ,

This is exactly the problem I have had for some time now , I have good days where I can pull it off by looking great and feeling great , but there are increasing days of " BLAAAH YUCK"!
During a photosession I take an oversupply of shots , I keep the majority and throw out the few bad shots per photoshoot.
This year I have had 12 photosessions , in normal years I would have done about 6 by this time of year , but this year I seem to be rejecting "entire" photoshoots and trashing the whole lot.
I have had numerous attemps at upgrading my look (mature) but I cant seem to get it right , perhaps a flamboyant look could be considered.
A bright pink wig , dress 10 sizes too small , fishnets , lipstick to excess and a pair of bright silver boots with 6 inch heels.

Hi Merinda,

I think I can say everything I need to say by asking one single question. How many GG's are happy with the way they look? Particularly in pictures.

I would say you are in pretty good company.

Love always,
Elizabeth
