Since I got my ears pierced several years ago, I generally wear small stud earrings of various sorts most of the time, 24/7. However, the last couple of days I've not worn any earrings at home, but have worn some half-inch near-hoop earrings at work (two different jobs). No one commented on the hoops.

Because my wife doesn't approve of my dressing I generally don't wear anything other than studs at home when she's there. Yesterday, I removed the hoops before I got home, but didn't replace them with any of my studs. She didn't comment on the "no earrings" look.

Tonight, I forgot to remove the hoops before I got home. She noticed them, kind of laughed (somewhat belittling) and asked where I'd gotten them. She then stated that she didn't like the hoops and preferred that I only wear my studs. I didn't comment at the time.

I reckon if I wear anything other than studs, I'll just have to make sure she's not around to see them. She'd really freak out if she saw some of my larger hoops and dangles.

I haven't worn any earrings for a while, due to the weather. Don't want to get them caught on the ski cap.

Plus making sure to remember to take them out before swimming. Hate for one to come off in the pool.

You could look at the way your wife commented on the hoops, as she is becoming acclimated to you wearing ear rings. That is a positive for you. If you want to look at it that way. I think we all need to have positive things about our cross dressing to help blend into the normal. Don't you think?

Hi girls,

I have two piercings on each ear so I wear diamond studs in one set all the time. Then if I want long earrings or hoops, I wear them in the other piercings. However, before I had both piercings, I regularly wore small hoops, both silver and gold to work.

I would think 1/2inch gold or silver would be ok? I some times wear some with stones in all 3 piercings with no comments. Kept small they don't attract attention in drab. I see many men wearing small gold or silver hoops around here. I do push it at times with dangly crosses or studs with multi-colored stones.

I was wearing my gold hoop earrings (1in circumference) the other-day when I was visiting an elder elderly lady (about 80), she commented on my earrings, & a little later she said if you don't mind me asking , are you "Gay" and my answer was that am certainly not, and I met her on the following Sunday at church and she apologized most profusely.

All I can say is my wife will ask me where and when I got them and say " they are cute"

I wear small gold studs, small diamond studs, and a couple types of small hoops. The same peolple comment the same way no matter which ones I wear...most don't say anything. My wife doesn't mind--in fact she was encouraging about getting my ears pierced.

What was funny -- the first time my mom stayed with us for a week shortly after I had pierced my ears and wore earrings, she didn't even notice. I thought she was being "polite", but 3 months later we had a family get together and my sisters commented on my ears...and then my mom said something as well. I tld her thy had been that way when she had visited and she didnt believe me---had to admit she hadn't noticed. LOL

I got mine done last December and for me it was a breeze. There is no pain involved - all I felt was a slight pinch. The healing process takes six weeks during which time you should semi-rotate the studs and clean around the studs with the lotion provided (I got mine done at Claire's Accessories). Six months later I can swap my normal studs for dangly earrings without looking in a mirror. I know wish I had had them done years ago.

Kittie, Susan's comments are spot-on after the six weeks of regularly caring
for your piercings, you can then have the fun of deciding on the type of earring that you like.
I had mine done about 4 or 5 years ago and absolutely love them.
