Hi! It's late but I wanted to share my experience today.
I posted earlier this morning that I purchased breast forms. Last night I visited my friend and had to model them. Not exactly something that you can do with just anyone. I didn't feel like a freak and she was very supportive. Of course, we have a very unique relationship anyway.
Today I had rehearsal up near my friend's house. I knew afterwards I would end up over at her house for the evening so I thought I would take my makeup with me and ask for some pointers.
After rehearsal I went over to her place. We went out to get something to eat and ran a few errands. Finally we got back to her place and I asked if she could help me with my makeup. She said sure... just like I knew she would.
I think she was impressed at how much stuff I had. You know, all the stuff in addition to makeup, i.e. eyebrow brush/comb, eyelash curler, mirrors, brushes, makeup sponges. Basically everything you need to put your face on.
Well, it was very enlightening and reaffirming. I've been experimenting for a while but I learned a few new tricks tonight. Also, she confirmed that my choice of foundation was a good color for me. I really only put makeup on the top half of my face because I hadn't shaved today. (It would have been difficult by this evening anyway. My beard grows too much in a day to get by without shaving again before putting on makeup.) It also does not help that I am growing a mustache and goatee for the show I am in. (I looked a little like the bearded lady in the circus.) I had my hair pulled back in order to put on the makeup. When I took it down there was really a difference. I have pretty long auburn hair that I intend to donate for cancer patients as soon as I'm finished with it.
Anyway, it was fun and she thought it looked pretty good. Now I need to practice, practice, practice.
My friend and I joke around at how many 'firsts' we've had together. Just about the time she thinks that we've been through all the 'firsts' I come up with something new. Oh well, it keeps her on her toes. She has said that she wasn't a closed minded person before she met me but now she has experienced so much more.
Anyway, I thought I would share my experience with you.
This Thursday I have an appointment to visit the lingerie salesperson who helped me before. Now that I actually have the breast forms I'm going to have her fit me again to make sure I have the correct size bra. After that, I may ask my friend to go bra shopping with me. It wont' be a 'first', (we've done it before,) but it will be fun.
Have fun!

I don't know how I got so fortunate...
Yes, I did have a good time. My friend is so awesome. I've shared some information with her that would have made most women go running for the hills, thrashing their arms in the air, clutching at their hair... well, you get the picture.
I can remember a time when I felt pretty isolated though. There really wasn't anyone that I would have told about my interest. I did mention it once to my wife but it fell upon deaf ears and that was the end of that.
I guess I have developed an attitude that I can either do the things I want to do in life or I can sit around making myself miserable not doing them. Pretty much a no-brainer in terms of a decision. Of course, it does take me some time to work up my courage to actually do somethings.
For example, the first time I approached a salesperson at a department store to ask about shapewear. That was a great confidence builder but it was scary too. Once I called JC Penney's Catalog and asked questions about the shapewear. When I mentioned that I was interested in crossdressing she hung up. It was as if it was an obscene phonecall. (This was back in 1995 so perhaps they are more enlightened now.)
Well, I just thought I would share my experience with everyone. I wish everyone could find a friend like mine. I hope everyone will understand but please find your own. Mine has a fulltime job just keeping up with all my shananigans.
Later,
Brianna
