The Power

Post by JoAnnDallas »

Today, I felt the power most women use everyday. It is time to get the old lawn mower serviced, sense Spring is about two months away. So we get it into the back of the car and I go down to the local lawn mover service center. Wife asks me how I am going to get it out by myself and I tell her, "No problem, I am sure someone at the center will help me". I walk in and the person behind the counter says"Good morning Mam" and asks what I needed. I told him that I had our lawn mower in the car and it needed servicing. He looks at this younger man and says, "Go get the mower out of this ladies car". So we start for the car and he races ahead to open the door for me. I tell him, "Thank you". He smiled and when we go to the car. I started to open the back with the key. He says, "Here let me do that", takes my key, opens the hatch, and hands me the key back. Then I started to help him get the mower out and he says, "Mam, I can handle this" and grunts and man-handles it out of the back of the car. You could almost smell the T coming off him. LOL Again he opens the door for me as we re-enter the shop and again I thanked him.
If I had been in male mode, I would have been lucky to have someone help me get the mower out of the car. LOL

:) Good use of cues. You went in and reponded to the request as to how they could help you, rather than just get the mower out by yourself. And you used thank yous liberally and I hope smiles, for postitive reinforcement. Very good job!! :) I have young neighbor men who rush to help when I come in with heavy things too. Sadly, I actually need the help as I have lost upper body strength since I started HRT in 2006 and retired in 2007. :(

If I know I'm going to be out soon and my water softener needs salt, you know full well this old lady will wait till I'm out en fem. Several times I have had these guys smaller than me loading my salt purchase into the cart and then into my car. I don't give it a second thought to you my femininity in a so called male territory. Another thing I like to do is ask a question like, " How do I do...." It sure beats reading a pamphlet :) The guys never short me information when I'm in skirt.

This is something that would be almost impossible to explain to my male friends. I mean, you can describe this kind of experience, and they would just look at you. I know my friends! They aren't macho guys, by any means, but seeing this as a kind of power (which it is) would not occur to them. I can see them saying, "Why would you even want this?"

I know it's been said before on here--many CDs might not be attracted to men, but still enjoy getting attention from them. It's an experience that we can only get by being out there dressed as women; there's no other way that this treatment could ever happen.

Oh how I can relate to the power of a skirt and heels. Spent a year working on our house and going to the lumber/hardware stores. Go in heels and a skirt and get asked 25 times if I need help. Have SA's walk all over the store showing me were things are and helping me. Go in male mode and it is like everyone runs away from me and if I do get a hold of someone they tell me what isle it is in.

One time I went I had a cart full of stuff and a flat piled with insulation. I loaded them up and got all the way up to the checkout. The one time I was not asked every 5 minutes if I needed help. The first thing the gal in the checkout does when she sees me pull into the lane is call for someone to help me out to my vehicle and help load. She did not even ask me but told me when I got up there she had called someone to help me out to my vehicle. I never got that type of service in guy mode. Of course the kid that helped me out to the car was dropping things off the flat on the way there and did not have a clue how to load a trailer so we could get it all in and would have stayed in the trailer. I had to play the "would it work to do it this way" routine. ^^_||

Of course the another side of going enfemme, one time I went shopping for a stapler. Someone asked to help and I asked where they were. He took me over to where they were and proceeded to try to tell me I need the girly pink stapler. I kept telling him I wanted a better stapler with more power than that. And I asked questions about the better staplers. He kept pointing out the pluses of the pink one. I told him one last time I was looking for more power and asked where the air tools were. He took me over to that isle and left. I did not get the pink stapler. #-o

And one last thing that is kind of funny. I got a set of new hip pads. Just the pads no panty to put them in. It said to just put them in a girdle and they would stay. Well I did that but they did not stay. By the time i got back out to my car, stepping in I notice one of them was coming out. Then noticed the other one was out and gone. I looked back across the parking lot and did not see it. And I was not going back in to get it. That had to be something funny for someone at a lumber/hardware store to find. If they even knew what it was. :-k

I've often thought that various ramifications and impressions of power had a lot to do with the beginnings of my dressing.

A similar thing in reverse can also happen, as any man who has had a baby with him in public can tell you. Suddenly women become incredibly helpful. So do a lot of other guys, but it's really funny how suddenly women are rushing to open doors for you.
