I just finished reading Chaz Bono's autobiography. A good read, not great, but good and quite straightforward.
He talks a bunch about being someone he is not, in terms that I could relate to in a non gender related manner. That was pretty interesting. Talks about the feelings his transistion brought about in his family with a great deal of empathy, which was also really nice to read. I'd say he makes the point that even when people love and accept us this is still not an easy thing for them, which makes sense.
He talked about how life is different being a man. The point he makes over and over is that although he found the idea of transitioning terrifying enough to put it off for years, once he did he felt very much at peace. He was able to move on in a great many other areas of his life, and he seems thrilled to have transitioned.
He talks about the very small part of him that was a girl, and how people who knew him well prior to transition missed that, although he did not.
He also talks about how he experiences things differently as a man. How his emotions changed, he became less empathic, more easily angered, how his sexual desires changed. All very interesting. I'd strongly recommend it. The emphasis here is on MTF, not FTM, but I think there is a lot to be learned for us from the FTM experience. There certainly is for me.
