My next VA Medical visit
My six month visit to my VA doctor is coming up. This should be interesting as I am going to inform her that I am a Transgender Male-to-Female CDer. I will be presenting to her copies of my Medical Diagnostic of GID and my WPATH letter for HRT. Just in case I downloaded VHA Directive 2011-024, titled Providing Health Care for Transgender and Intersex Veterans. I have heard that some VA facilities have not been kind on treating TG or CD patients. The directive is available online at VA.gov. So have any of you vets out there had any problems or heard of any problems at your local Veteran Facilities?

Re: My next VA Medical visit
I have never had a problem. It is in my VA records from about 1974 that I am CD. I have never told my present VA provider, but I am sure she knows as she has seen painted toe nails and some female clothing.
I did have one comment from VA cardoligest asking why I had painted toenails and had the feeling that he didn't approve, but I never felt that it impaired my care.
Over the years I have had care in 5 VA facilities.
