I made my second visit to my Indo, this past Tuesday. I was sitting in the waiting room when I heard my last name called. I walked up to the counter and the receptionist looked at me and asked where my husband was. I smiled at her, leaned closer and said, " Are you new here?" She replied, "Yes". I then said, "I am one of Dr. C.... transgender patients". She still looked confused and then said "One minute". She got up and went over to another lady. She talked to her and nodded at me. The other lady smiled and must have told her who and want I am. She came back over and said, "Sorry about the delay, your co-pay is $.....". The other lady came over and commented on my dress. I thanked them both, paid my co-pay, and sat down. I mentioned it to the doctor and he said she was new and he had not had time to explain to her that he and another doctor treat TG patients. She was very professional and used all the correct pronouns even after she knew the facts. Also it was great to again pass. I smiled all the way home.
Hugs,
