First Time Wearing Female Clothing Started Something

My first time wearing female apparel was at age 59.
I dressed as a female in the guise of Charley's Aunt- all decked out.
It must have loosened something dormant in me for since then I have been developing more female characters and seem to have the drive to want to do that more than my male characters.
I even sometimes go to a costume event simply dressed as a lady in regular female attire.
Do you think that there was something dormant in me and that my first time dressing up as a female brought this out?

Could be something "dormant" or maybe (like me) the pleasure of endorphin release makes it such fun.

Somehow I feels to me as though it probably was, in part, based on something waiting to come out. If you have some other vague memories that might play into this, maybe that'd be a cue.

I had always thought that it would be fun to dress up as a girl or lady.
But no real pushing desire

A lot of people find, later in life, that the CDing drive kind of intensifies. I'm one of those. So maybe that's part of what's happened to you.
But the first and only time I have been dressed up in public was when I played Titania in a school play. That was the same time as my mother was pregnant and I always relate the two - like there was something that intensified the girly element in me at that time because of the stress and that caused me to get picked for that play.
There's something explosive about my CDing. Like there are sudden bursts of femaleness that need to get expressed - which often (if not always) relate to the way the rest of my life is going. I don't know if that strikes a chord with you.

To be honest when I am relaxed and comfortable I have very few problems.
But this comes out when I have a lot of stress.
But as far as the characters are concerned, I have just developed them over the years with my male ones.
But the stress does push the female out!

I think for a number of CDs, there is a predisposition to dress, and after the first time it triggers and awakens the urge to continue dressing.

I think that you are absolutely right. The urge came after my first time dressing as a woman. After that costume party the urge became greater.
And i do enjoy dressing as a woman!

Most cross dressers seems to start at a very early age, too young to fully realize the significance of what they are doing.
But like yourself, there are late bloomers. One of the husbands friends didn't start till in his seventies. He grew up always feeling a bit odd about himself and now regrets all those missed years of fun.

There probably was something dormant, since you said that you always kind of thought it would be fun. But that isn't all that significant, since 'something dormant' could mean anything. Sort of like saying I have an inherent love of ice cream because I always thought I would like it, and when I tried it I did like it.
I think sometimes we overthink this whole subject way too much. It's probably as easy as: you though it would be fun, you tried it and it is fun, and you want to keep having fun with it.
This morning I was putting on a new dress that I'd bought a few weeks ago, and I thought "how could anyone look at such a cute dress and not want to wear it?" It is really no more complicated than that. But then I work with a woman who hates wearing dresses, I just don't get that at all.

Well, basically I am a guy who occasionally likes to wear women's clothing. I find it fun and relaxing.

Hi Martha. I identify with you. I to am a male who just loves to wear women's clothing and it is also a relaxant for me.
While I did start young in life, dressing was put on hold for a very long time (over 30 years). Now that the kids have left the nest and just my wife and I are at home the urge had returned with a vengeance. I am sitting making this post as Requal. Relaxed, stress free and just enjoying the minutes pass by.
