Well, I have bought a couple of pair of womans shorts is all but they actually fit me better than my manly man shorts. Only problem is they are two total different sizes. I put them to my waist to see what I thought at the garage sales I got them from. Lady looked at me and I said I can tell my wifes sizes by my waist. Wish I had some of the other ladies moxy to say the truth. I wear 38 x 34 in mens and one pair is a ladies 16 and the other is a 20 and they both fit the same. One is LA Blues and the Avenue Jeans.

Danger,
The most noticable differences in jeans will be decorations on the jeans, stitching on the pockets, and which side the fly is on (men's on the right, some women's on the left) I have jeans from both the Avenue and Lane Bryant which I have worn out like my men's jeans (but the have like it seems the majority of jeans, right-hand flies).
The most noticable thing to me is that the fabric in women's jeans seems much softer.

Hi,
Since I pretty much spend my life in womens jeans, perhaps I can be of some assistance.
First, Gelinda, what you are seeing is the inconsistency in the sizing of women's clothing. Even within the same brand, the sizing can be different from one line to the next. That's why we
always save our sales slips and don't cut off any tags until we've had a chance to try things on. You never know when you'll need to return something.
I've found the LA Blues jeans to fit a bit on the snug side.
As for differences, you only need to look at the physical differences between the male and female bodies to get an idea. And I don't just mean in the crotch either.
When I started buying, I first looked at the women's How to Measure guide and size charts in my JC Penney catalog. Then, based on the size chart for my waist size, I went and bought a pair of jeans. Boy was I surprised when I got them home and put them on.
Not only were they just a bit loose in the waist, they were really baggy everywhere else. Oh, yeah, women have narrower waists and wider hips.
Next I went back to the size chart and this time I chose the size based on my hip size rather than waist. Now, if you happen to be a bit plump in your middle, the waist size might work better for you. I'm relatively slim so I've found that using the hip size gets me pants with the waist a bit smaller than mine but not so much that I can't suck it up a bit and wear them comfortably.
Now, since the introduction of the low-rise jeans, I still use my hip measurement to find my size but the low rise jeans are a bit wider at the waist band as they sit lower on the women's hips. I found that they sit almost at my natural waist and the fit is wonderful.
It may take a bit of trial and error to find the size that fits you best but that's how I figured out mine. As I said, keep your sales slips 'till you are sure.

I spend a lot of my time in jeans. Thanks to thrift stores, I've doubled the pairs I own just in the space of a month. I actually own more pairs of women's jeans and shorts than the male variety. Most of my jeans I wear anywhere, and no one has ever said anything about them. I have a pair of black GAP Stretch boot-cut jeans, and the only comment I got wearing them was "Nice butt!", from a woman.
I have another pair by Venezia, black with cutouts and embroidery along the calves. Someone might say something about those, so I'm saving them for a special occasion.

Jeans
Junior sized jeans (as opposed to Misses or Womens sizes will probably fit better as they are made for younger women who don't have as much of an "hour-glass" figure as their older sisters. Therefore the waist/hip differential is more like a man's. Incidently, junior sizes are odd-numbered (3,5,7, etc) while Misses or womens are even numbered (4, 6, 8, etc.).
Also women's jeans have a shorter zipper in the fly, since women don't have "equipment" to extract to urinate. I've found that many women's jeans make it more practical to sit to pee than to stand. They also have smaller and shallower front pockets, so don't expect to carry as much in them as you're used to. A nice little shoulder bag will help.

Re: Jeans
I've been meaning to ask someone about this. How do Junior sizes convert to Misses? Many times I've looked in stores and seen jeans that were sized 15, and looked like my 16s, but didn't want to buy them if they weren't going to fit.bob99 wrote:Junior sized jeans (as opposed to Misses or Womens sizes will probably fit better as they are made for younger women who don't have as much of an "hour-glass" figure as their older sisters. The Junior size is generally 1 number below the Misses size. Sometimes you will find items labeled with both as in 9/10 which is Junior 9/Misses 10.

I have both women's jeans and shorts including short shorts. Women's jeans have a very small fly area which will make it difficult to stand up to pee so be aware of that. If you are looking for jeans and shorts that are not obvious, choose Levi's. I have both jeans and shorts in that brand and they work very well for being out in public and not being obvious wearing women's jeans. Short shorts are another thing entirely, yet I will wear them from time to time because I am very proud of my "feminine" legs.
I've gotten some approving looks from many a young lady when wearing them I must admit! I'm sure the gay guys probably check me out as well and even though I am not of that persuasion my attitude is "enjoy the view guys!"
xoxoxoxo,

Chicky Jeans
I have two pair (at the moment with plans to extend the wardrobe a bit) of very comfortable women's jeans. Both are stretch denim and feel so much cooler than straight denim. Then again I live in the tropics, so any advantage to look great and feel cool at the same time is a bonus.
One pair are standard stretch jeans without back pockets but does have lovely embroidery on both hips and on one lower trouser leg.
The other pair are lower rider stretch with no pattern but have pockets.
Either way I love both pair. The best part of having the two different styles is I can pick and choose depending on mood being either casual or clubbing. (Not that I go clubbing, but hey, the thought is nice
