Passing vs. Looking Good

Post by Lorna »

If you could NOT be both, which would you choose?

I now accept the fact that in my 30s, lines will begin to appear on my face and the "little girl" face that I once had at age 26 is going away... therefore passing isn't always an option anymore.

Regardless, I am comfortable enough with my own CDing that I no longer care about whether I pass or not. So if I had to choose, I would choose looking good. And for our poll here, looking "good" can mean sexy or classy or presentable.

Which would you choose?

Lorna,

I'm the first to answer OTHER.

I restarted CDing at age 51, 2 years ago. Trying to go out in public and pass has not been a goal of mine. I only dress around home, and within the comfort level of my wife, who is very loving and supportive.

I don't have a strong desire to go through all the effort and expense to try to really perfect total passable femininity. I consider myself a highly selective day tripper to womanhood - I love to visit certain parts - nightgowns, lingerie, stockings, foundation garments, petticoats, dresses, skirts, ruffles, lace, some jewelry, etc. but I DON't want to live there.

I feel that I can remove my femme clothes, remove the infrequent nail polish and other makeup, and I'm still the man my wife married 27 years ago.

I'm comfortable with what works for me and I like to read of the likes/dislikes/adventures of my sisters on the forum.

Hi Lorna--
I've had to ask myself this question many times, and still do. The things that really make me look good (false eyelashes, dramatic makeup, long-haired wigs) are also the things that scream, "CD." Sometimes I still opt for looking good, even to go to the supermarket.

For poll purposes, though, passing wins out more of the time. I have shows to do, where I'm expected to look dramatic. Even with that outlet, I still find myself wanting to go flashy for ordinary errands. Guess the 15 year old girl in me is still not ready to settle down.

Look good or pass

Post by Connie »

Hi Lorna,

I selected other since in my mind looking good will mean I could pass, and if I Pass then I look good?

Anyway, a thought that I have been toying with recently is, It doesn't matter if I pass, or people see "a man in a dress/skirt/pantsuit" but I would prefer that someone not shout out "That's **** wearing a dress, wig, makeup, boobs, etc..."

Hi Lorna,

I guess I also have to choose other, as I have chosen to dress just far enough to feel good. That dose not always include looking Good.

I have choosen looking good because even though I would like to pass, if I look good it does not matter. Who knows, maybe a GG would like that in me. But all you GGs out there don't get too excited [-X . My heart *^^* belongs to my wife 1kiss

I've selected passing,

I like to blend in with the girls and be part thereof.

It is not my scene to look sexy or model status , however if I was a GG then model status would be a thought.

Most definitely, passing

Post by Estefania »

Hi all.

I haven't been visiting often, but I saw Lorna's question and I thought I would reply...

Most definitely, passing.

I have always thought that I will take a "she is a plain looking woman" over a "that's a very pretty tranny" any day. My goals when going out were always about being accepted... but not as a cd. Just as any other woman.

Now, this is a bit odd, being like it is that I don't have a TS bone in my body. :P But that's the way it is for me. I applaud those who are into goign out and not caring about the people knowing they are cd/tg's, and even use the oportunity to "educate" people about cding. But that is not for me, sorry.

Having said that, just remember that it is a theoretical question... I like the idea of both passing and looking good, but not to be "attractive" for anybody else. I try to look good for myself.

Hi there,

I responded last night, but after seeing the *^^* "Great Gaby" *^^* post I couldn't help but add my words with my vote. :)

Gaby's right and I voted the same. I'd rather pass than look good any day.

Ok, just wanted to say how I voted and rub up against Gaby (like a kitten) :)

Miss you always Gaby. Thanks for stopping by!!!

After reading Gaby and Beauty's posts I nearly changed my mind, but finally voted for 'looking good' as I'm a stay-at-home kinda girl. Though I'd have voted 'passing' if I ever went out dressed.

Though I wouldn't want to hear any such talk, I think I'd be far more comfortable hearing "She's kind of a plain Jane" or "She's no super model" than I would hearing "It's a man, baby!"

passing vs looking good

Post by Sally »

Gaby, wonderful to see you again, your input and presence is always sorely missed.

I voted for passing, so as to comply with the construction of Lorna's question, but passing for me incorporates looking good also, whether I'm dressed up formal or casual, but then I have the added assistance of years of help from female hormones, so I guess that may be construed as ' cheating ' to some degree. :-$

Passing allows me to move freely anywhere in public without having concern for my safety and well being, albeit of course paying attention to avoiding areas where any female could be under threat.

Kind Regards.

Sally.
