I invited my wife to shave off my mustache to prepare for my (our) outting in Dec. She hasn't done it yet, and wanted to have another talk. Seems she expected me to go to the Gala looking like a man in my new gown. Anyway, long story short, I managed to change her mind. I'd have gone in my Tux first.

I'm not married, so I don't have to keep a mustache to look more "manly." Although, I do have to kepp short hair becuase of where I'm at...

Oh my--
The software is finally gonna let me post to this one. Gee. It plays all kinds of tricks--some weeks I can't log on to "view all posts since last visit." Other weeks I can't post at all. Today it registered me as "guest."
I keep thinking I'm going to get DSL anytime now, and don't want to upgrade my old AOL version. But I pay a price for that.
I would think your WIFE would have a stake in getting ride of the facial hair, too, if she's going to go with you. (This is probably all old news by now. I hope you didn't have to wear that tux.)
Congratulations on that size 28 to size 22, by the way.

Formal is on the 4th of Dec. Still haven't shaved, but I will soon. Probably after Thanksgiving. I know my upper lip will need time to adjust after 20+ years.
I told her a story relayed to me. A couple apparently went to the Formal last year and he was dressed enfemme, but kept the beard. His SO apparently cried all night over it.

Hi Donna,
Yikes! The poor wife. I wonder how he felt being the only one dressed with facial hair?
Good luck on the shaving!

I couldn't go out as the "bearded lady"... but that's just me.

Donna, Beauty, Don't guess I will make the formal on the 4th. I just brought my wife home from the hospital tonight and she will have to be watched 24/7 and I have to take her back to UVA on the 3rd of December for additional testing to see how she is. Hope you will keep me abreast of other "meetings" that come up as I would really like to meet you girls!
Love,
Virginia

No worries Virginia, you just take care of her. Praying for both of you.
I still have made it out the door yet. I got dressed this morning, including wig, to let my wife see it for the first time. She doesn't like the style nor the color. May have to bite the bullet and find
another wig, with her help this time.
Here's what it looks like, almost. Bangs are supposed to be 3.5 inches but don't seem to be.

DonnaT,
you look just so lovely I wouldn't change a thing.
Don't feel bad as my wife doesn't like my black wig at all, she saids the brown one is a better match for me.

I think you look great. But then I'm not your wife...

Well, if that was me in the pic, I'd agree

But that is the model for the wig at beautytrends.com.
I still have a mustache to shave off yet!

I was kind of questioning the picture myself...

Donna, have you worn a wig before? If not, I have found positioning is very critical, I have about 25 wigs, some fit great and hardly need adjustment, others take a while to get the right position on the head to look good. I have even cut a few to give it bangs because I have such a big forehead (norwegian), wig liners help a lot too , I also do what Julie M. does, tape my eyebrows up under the wig and on the wig liner. Are the bangs too long or too short? Don't know your age so taping may not be an issue. I like the style myself, I will have to check out beauty trends...... Kristen

I wore one in my younger days and the style didn't cause any problem with hair in the face.
I trimmed this one Monday. I didn't really have the hair/bangs combed right. So, once I fixed that, there were still some hairs that were bothersome, so I trimmed them to the bang length.
I should know this weekend if my wife is going to take me to a wig store to check on other styles. I like the one I have, and think it will look ok once I've colored (powdered) the eyebrows to match, shave, and put on makeup.
I did plan on getting some clear medical tape and pull the brows up a touch. The wig cap slips some though, but I guess if it's taped to the forehead correctly it shouldn't slip.
Here's the page I found for taping +.
http://www.draag.com/tips/prep/wigcap1.html The images are a little dramatic, as they are for drag, but the technique is good even for a less dramatic effect.
