I stumbled accross the following passage. For me, it hits the nail right on the head. I think its beautiful, see if it reminds you of anything.....

I like that a lot, Darlene. Mirrors can very magic devices for all, but especially for us.

At the local Tri-Ess meeting this month, I happened to look in a mirror across the room, and could have sworn I saw my mother.

Hi Darlene,

That was very interesting. I can't say I've done all of the things the quote said he saw in the mirror, but I have thought, "OMG.. I look like my mom more than I thought." When my mom looks at my pictures she says she just sees herself. I take it as a huge compliment.

I did show a picture of my mom to someone once and he showed it to his wife who promptly asked, "Who dressed him up like a woman?"

Ever notice how a 'mirror image' can mean something is exactly the same, but it can also mean that it's exactly the opposite?

The interesting question is: while identifying internally as a woman, but dressed male, can you recognize and love the man you see looking back in the mirror?

Perhaps something very special happens when the inner man loves the inner woman and vice versa.

BTW, Darlene's passage seems an excellent description of confrontation with one's anima.

I feel kind of weird when I look in the mirror...I want to think of myself as a beautiful girl but I don't look beautiful...

Well BG I guess I have to ask and you should ask: "What do you want or expect to see when you look in the mirror?" Are you trying to see something more or less than what is there? Do you use the mirror just to shave or put on make-up or are you really looking for something? This can get real deep real quick, so I will leave it at that but you have to answer for yourself. Don't rush it take your time. Some of us struggle at various stages of our journey - comes with the territory. Just stay calm, love who you are, don't over analyze this. It will all come together in its own time.

When I lived in male mode, I didn't like my male reflection. I thought it was unattractive.

When I first started crossdressing, after I had got the hang of basic makeup techniques, as part of doing my makeup I really looked at the mirror. I liked what I saw. In fact, so much so, that (as I realize now) I thought I was more attractive and passable than I really was. It was funny and scary, 'cause I would go out sometimes ill-prepared.

Then, a couple of years after I went full time, as I got used to being crossdressed, I seemed to be aging alarmingly fast. Was I seriously ill? No, the novelty had worn off, and I was starting to accept my female appearance the same unpleasant way I had accepted my male appearance.

Then I learned some more makeup techniques. And I finally began to like myself realistically. Now I like what I see, but I am more realistic about it.
