Breaking News!

It's just before 7 am. I'm sittling here on the loft, doing what I do every morning--shaving my face. It takes about 1/2 hour every morning to get the obsessively clean shave that I need to go out into the world as the pretty, 50-something woman I am.

My wife is reading downstairs below the loft.

I'm reading a thread about hair removal. And I say to her "I think I"m going to look into electrolysis or lazer. I spend a lot of time shaving every morning." and she says, "OK."

YAY!!!

 You know what I recommend.

Seriously though, if you have grey hairs it may take both, but I'd say get as much done with laser as you can and then electrol the rest.

Regardless of which avenue you pursue, that is so cool Rikki!!!!! :)

Hi Rikki--
That's a lot of shaving, dear. I might even say "Yay!" twice or three times, if I were you. If money ever becomes available, I'll be doing it myself.

Hi Anita,

Ok, I'm curious. How much do you think laser hair removal costs are? Or were you thinking about electrolysis? I heard someone paying over 25k for electrolysis. :( Laser cost me a little over 1k.

I hope you try it too. You'll be so much happier not shaving! :) :) :)

A friend who had laser done said she paid about $100 each for three sessions to do her entire face.

Okay--I've been all over the map on this one. One TS autobiography said she did hers for $10,000, in 1995 dollars. I figured that might have crept up to $15,000 by now. $25,000?

A TS friend said that laser can't advertise as permanent removal now--that it does come back. How often you have to spend that $1000, I don't know. Would not like to go through it twice a year, for example.

Hi Rikki,

Yes. I paid a year in advance (i was afraid I'd chicken out if I didn't) :) Ok, it was either that or I thought I'd spend the money. :)

Hi Anita,

I have a whole thread about the experience in this section of the site. In my final post in the CoolGlide Laser thread I talked about the FDA and their review of laser technology later this decade. You may have read it so I won't bore you to tears again.

If you'd like to wait a year longer I can attest to the success or failure of it, but I will tell you (if you didn't read) that I'm coming up on a year of never having shaved my upper lip. :) That's a nice landmark, oui? :) Hopefully it will only be another few months and I make a year in some other ares of my face. :)

I hope it works out for me and it's doing good so far. [-o< I'd tell anyone to go for it. The science and how it works, just makes too much sense, but I'm a converted believer. :)

I'll take a look for the post one another board I read where someone said they'd just finished paying 25k for electrolysis. I just read it yesterday I'm pretty sure. It was weekend at least. :-k
