dressing/feeling bad

I read a lot where people feel dressing makes them feel good in a great variety of ways. Some say that when they don't feel good about something it can cheer them up.
When I am feeling pretty good about stuff dressing makes me feel better. But when I am feeling bad about stuff dressing does not bring any consolation, in fact I lose most if not all of the urge to dress.
Case in point. Last week I hurt my leg. I am now limping around with crutches but have seen a doctor a couple of times and the prognosis is good so I am less anxious than I was. With my leg hurting last week and me worried about when it would get better I found I did not want to dress at all. The injury took all the fun out of it.
This week my family is home on vacation and I am finding their support vis a vis my leg comforting. I would not be dressing anyway.
So my question is, how many of us dress to comfort ourselves when we are not feeling good about things and how many of us don't dress because we are feeling bad about something else?

Hi Andrea, I guess hat I realy don't have an answer for your post. I do not dress to make myself feel good. Wether or not I am sad, hurting or whatever. I may be even one of the few that dress, simply because I feel a great need to dress feminine. I realy can not explain it all. I do know that if I didn't have my day with my SO's acceptance to be Claire. I tend to get very moody and the loved ones around me recieve the brunt of it. I do not entertain thought on SRS or being a TS. I like my life the way it is now. And my biggest hope is that all of the cross dressers that I have talked to here in this forum can obtain the happeniness that I have gotten.
Hugs and Kisses, Claire

Hmmm, I guess I have to say that I have dressed in undies and a cami top when I am sick, I usually dont want anything on but we have to be presentable to someone who may come by. I know how you feel with a sore leg and when I was hit while riding a bike I didnt wear anythin due to all the road rash, it covered about 25% of my body and no one wants anything touching tender spots, so dress as you want and dont what others may think. Its your choice and you should be able to do dress the way you want if you are hurt, I know I do.

I'd have to say, whenever I feel stressed about work or finances or life in general, I find CDing helps immensely in releasing some of that stress. Once dressed, I find myself to be really relaxed, I don't know why, perhaps it gives my mind something else to focus one besides the stress point.
For me, I would have to say if I am really sick (ie. I had a touch of food poisoning a few months ago, and I felt awful) the urge to CD goes out the window.

I agree with Wendy on this one. However I would dress (and have) even if I was sick. I would rather be sick and dressed than just sick.

I cross-dress in some form every day sick or not. Most of the time it simply panties and a house dress that is sort of a night gown, that I also sleep in. That way when I dress up it is a treat.

That is a very good way to be, I think its according to the way you feel on how you dress and at what extent you dress.

An article written by Lin Fraser M.A/MFCC which contains information on some of the reasons she believes some people crossdress has been useful to a number of people over the years. Lin works amongst the TG community and her findings are quite interesting to say the least on many matters pertaining to the TG community.
The whole article can be read at

If anyone isn't interested in the first sections you just need to scroll down to the heading 'CROSSDRESSERS'.
Kind Regards.

I find when I am sick and dress I go more for comfy clothes rather than "the whole look".

Hi Andrea
Sorry to hear you injured you leg.. Hope you are on the mend.
I must say that when I dress even partially something will come over me and I will feel very relaxed and most of the stress if I'm feeling that way will simply dissipate. As for the urge to dress disappearing if I'm feeling sick or down that has only happened once in my life when I got very ill and depressed last year. Once I got over it my urges to crossdress came back and it was much stronger than ever before.. I guess I could say I was making up for lost time.
