Hi there,

I told another guy friend today about me. He didn't understand some things, but totally accepted me and was ok with my explanations of why I needed to do his or that. We talked for like 30 minutes after I told him, so I know he was ok with it.

He was curious about the t-blockers and the facial hair removal. He asked me was I planning on any other changes and I told him yes, but that I'm not going to transition. His reactions were so cool.

Now I have two guy friends who accept me for who I am though one is more macho than the other. It's good to have GG friends who understand, but I now know it's good to have non TG'd male friends who accept who I am too.

I'm so happy for you!! It is indeed nice to have acceptance from non-TG male friends. Just when you think certain old friends are too "macho" to handle certain things, they're totally accepting.

That's good to hear about, Beauty. I see from reading your post that I wish my friends were a little more curious, or would ask how it's going with me. They did initially, when I first told them, and then we don't talk of it again. I'm not going to prod my friends to ask, but it's like anything else in life--I want my friends to take an interest in what I do, and that doesn't happen with CDing.

I'm glad to hear you've found that initial acceptance, though. I got that, and it's important.

If I may, my T/S friend went to city hall Friday to see why they had not changed her name from the male to the female. She had a copy of the court order to support her. She said the two people she spoke too, one male (late 40's and one female) were very helpful and when they set her records up correctly the guy started asking some questions, just out of curiosity, and the girl answer a lot of them before my friend could. My friend was some what taken back at the acceptance from both of them as they had evidently never dealt with this type of situation before. She said she spent a good 45 minutes answering their questions and they both were guienuly interested and supportive and left her with _"If there is ever anything we can do to help you - please let us know!!!" She said she teared up a bit from their supportive attitude!
We TS/CD T/G are making inroads. If this can happen in a small town like she is in!! Rock ON!!!!!!

I see how you could think that or that you were kidding a bit. This friend was someone who I told in college and he was my roommate. He actually didn't mind when I would dress around him at the house. I told him more about me and how I'd done more things.

CJ has been the inspiration for many things in my life, but I promise this wasn't inspired by her coming out to her colleagues at work. What she did far bolder than me telling someone who already knew about my CD'ing, but just updating him on my current status (t-blockers, facial hair removal and ffs next year)

Well... truth be told I did call him to wish him Happy Birthday. I also blurted out the facial hair removal, but he didn't want to know more about it and the t-blockers that kind of floored him.

I should have done a better job at explaining he knew before. Even if he was just slightly ok with it then. He's know for over 10 years now and he's never changed towards me, but then I was kind of saying my dressing was just "a thing" not like I told him when we spoke the other day.

Heh. Okay, okay, what's going on here?

There are some achievements I'm happy to take credit for... but, for sure, they all happen to be about things going on in my own life, not in anyone else's.

I realize that many of us here influence (and, often, are an inspiration to) one another but each of our paths, including Beauty's, is very much our own.

I'm no longer the same person I was a couple of years ago--I feel better, stronger, more courageous--precisely because of my contact with all of you here. But, really, most of you (and, yes, Beauty's very much in my mind, here) have been a part of the TG community for much longer than I have; I'm the one who looks up to you!

About the link you provided regarding my coming out at work, I'll be honest here... it didn't (and doesn't) take all that much courage on my part to be open about who I am with my colleagues when I know that this self-honesty is almost a basic requirement for the job and that the chances were high that I wouldn't be shunned by my co-workers. Some of them (including my boss) even had trouble understanding why I took such a long time to come out. What's more difficult--and I have a tremendous amount of admiration for those who do this--is to come out to spouses, family members, and longtime friends... especially when the odds are high that dire consequences may follow from the revelation. Now that takes guts and it's a situation that you and Beauty and so many others here have been in that I haven't really had to face yet. No laurels for me in this regard but, most definitely, laurels to all those who've "been there, done that."

If it were the case that I "started" something, I'd like to think it would be more along the lines of encouraging people to see and appreciate their own strengths and to come to love the beauty of their own souls. But, even (or, rather, especially) in this regard, Beauty (amongst others) is way ahead of me there and, anyway, there's nothing I did (or do) that's not already there, ready to flower, in your own hearts and minds.

So I say: Beauty, you rock! And so do all of you, regardless of the geography of your own lives, just because of the positive effect you've had on me (now, aren't I the selfish one? ). By the way, Beauty, the title of the thread I thought made it clear enough that this male friend of yours was someone you'd already told. It was, after all, an update. Still, it's by no means a small thing when we tell a guy--friend or not--that, no, this isn't just, like, a hobby or something; this is who we are. This is who you are.
