Names and name changes

OK I have had my fem name for some time. I have used it in other forums and its also my main e-mail. I have used variations of my name but they have been names like Tina Sheer, Tina Manesis, just Tina and also I used Constantina Manesis.

Manesis is not my legal last name but it is the last name I was born with so if your close enough to me to know who I am with this information I have only one question for you..........What are you doing here?

So the Manesis part i wish to keep. My So says she does not see me as a Tina. For one I am not petite in stature for sure.....lol. Also she feels my taste and air of class ( yeah I wanted to laugh too.) needed a more powerful name something with elegance.

I am thinking Jaqueline Manesis or poossibly Anysia Manesis. I have not made a final decision but these are the two best so far. I am asking for suggestions, One of the above or do any of you girls have some names you might like?

***huh***

Also this brings up the subject of changing names with tri-ess and the local chapter, getting set up on the forum with new email etc. SO any help with new name intergration would be appreciated as well.

Hi, Tina -

My vote is for the name Jaqueline Manesis - your looks and hair style more closely resembles Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, IMO.

If you wish to change your user name with our forum, send me a PM with your selection and I will make the change - - no need to re-register with the new name.

Hi Tina,

Honestly I don't have an answer for you. Your name (IMO) should come from within. If you feel comfortable with it, then keep it. Now, that being said, there's a lot that can be derived from womanly intuition. If your SO says you don't look like a Tina, there's probably an air of truth to her statement. She knows you better than I (or anyone else here, I imagine) Has she made any suggestions as to what might be better? Jaqueline certainly sounds sophisticated. But is that really you? Search your heart and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

I've been searching for a middle name since taking the name Kyra Kross, and after three years I still haven't decided. No worries, though. I've all the time in the world.

Good Luck,
Kyra

I understand what your saying Kyra. In all honesty I never gave my name a whole ot of thought. I shared in one of my posts ( jeeze its hard to find my own threads) how my step father called me Scottina when he found my stash of girly things under my bed. I just used Tina as sort of a smack in his face without thinking about if the name "fit" my presonality or not. And I agree with Kyra that my SO would have the best idea for what fits my personality. She said that Tina does not describe me and my unquenchable desire to wear Gucci and Chanel..........lol. The name Tina does not fit my fem image of myself.I like the Jaqueline Onasis comparison. That's the same reason I did not choose it immediately as that is sure to be the comparison...and I am for sure my own person and doubt I could fill those shoes. I will consider it some more. Thanks for the help so far.

Hi Tina

I would have to agree your femme name must be one you're comfortable with. There are many reasons we choose a particular name but it's such a personal thing that only you can know what 'feels' right, even if others disagree or don't like your choice of name.

Your SO is in a good position to know what might be right for you, although again, it must feel right for you. Perhaps you can ask your parents in a round about way what they would have called you had you been born a girl. That's where my name came from and it just felt a nice fit.

Hi Tina,
As has been stated - your name should be some thing you feel and should not be taken lightly. Think long and hard before you make your choice. As I have said it can have lifelong consequences.
My story quickly is that I initially chose "Deborah" because of the various alternatives, i.e., Deborah, Debbie, Deb, but it just never felt quite right, then in what I can only relate to as a "dream-experience" my deceased grandmother came to me and said that I should perhaps show some respect to my mother and her and like that I awoke to a beautiful idea.
Virginia - my mother and Irene - my grandmother! and as I have said before I think they would both be proud of their duaghter and grand-daughter!
Give your selection some serious thought!
Love,
Virginia Irene

Well it's been decided that I am now Jacqueline Manesis. Manesis is my last name as a matter of record on my birth certificate although not the last name I carry on my drivers license etc. My mother though it would help me fit in our new family when she had a child with her husband and I was the only one with a differing last name so she changed it legally. So I am taking my name back as far as the last name, and Jacqueline..........well Jackie O..I could do worse!

:P

Name is important

I chose "Cheryl", because this is close to my male name. Cheryl is more than a name, she is a friend. Cheryl is a fine, decent person, who is kind and supportive. My male side has a lot to learn from Cheryl. I intend to get Cheryl's name on credit cards, ID cards, etc. Cheryl is an important part of my life.

Choose your name carefully, and with thought. Names are important, else why would everybody have one?
