Stockings
I just returned from a memorial service for a neighbor who passed away. I should say I live and work as a female and have for over 6 years now so that is all anyone knows me as. I wore a black skirt and a black and red sweater with black boots, very appropriate I thought. WhatI did notice is I was the only female there wearing a skirt and stockings, well actually pantyhose but you get the picture. Do GG's wear hose anymore or is it just us gurlz?

I too cannot speak as a GG however I have noticed a trend amongst the younger gurls of bare legs with a skirt. Personally I find pumps or boots uncomfortable without hose so I wonder how they do it. I guess it is up to us older girls to keep Hanes and Leggs in business. Personally I prefer thigh highs as I find them a lot more comfortable than pantyhose or stockings with garters and definitely a heck of a lot easier in the powder room than pantyhose but to both you Deidre and Angela that is a ladies perogative.

Re: Stockings
I see plenty of women in hose, even tights, but more often among older women or in cool or cold weather. If it's a comfortable temperature I see most women opt to keep their legs bare. I completely understand why - it's less hassle, less expensive, and it feels great to have a breeze on your legs.Deidre Taylor wrote:Do GG's wear hose anymore or is it just us gurlz?
I'm fine until I start to perspire, then they become uncomfortable in a hurry. I think the secret is that genetic women just don't run as warm as we do and are much less prone to perspire as a result.Karen Ski wrote:Personally I find pumps or boots uncomfortable without hose so I wonder how they do it.

skirts
How bad is that? I finally have enough courage to go out dressed as a woman and shop and have lunch. I feel like an idiot when I look around and dont find any women wearing skirts and pantyhose. What is that all about? If I wear pants, I may as well dress as a guy and shop for my own bras in drab. What is the world comming to?

lol I dunno as a genderqueer/CDing GG I would avoid wearing skirts and tights as we call them in the UK but erm yeah I might if my partner is around and it is evening. so obviously i have reason to be a fan of no skirt its too girly. personally I see loads of GGs in skirts. maybe they just feel cold or something or feel like wearing trousers that day who knows.

I love wearing pantyhose and, like Georgia, I feel that the outfit is incomplete without them, even in the heat of summer; and yes, even when I lived in the Tampa area I wore pantyhose with my skirts and dresses. The only time that I don't wear stockings - of any kind - is with my flat sandals, keds, or flip flops.
For the record, anyone who wears socks with sandals looks absolutely ridiculous!! {The only exception are those who must wear DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) stockings, etc., but that is for purely health-related reasons.

Here in New England I find that in the winter my feet get too cold in my (guy) sandals unless I wear socks with them. But of course when I go outside I put on regular shoes, so maybe that doesn't count. But I wear shoes indoors as seldom as possible, probably something I got from my father who spent a lot of time in Japan right after the war.

I agree with SL, I never wear dresses, skirts, or dress slacks without stockings. It looks unfinished and sloppy. There has been a movement to not wear them, but I love the feel of pantyhose and would feel out of place if I didn't wear them! I love the fact that my man loves stockings as well, in fact we have had a huge conversation about how amazing they feel!
I think it is more of a comfort level thing for each woman more than anything else. I live in FL and it can be hot in in them during the summer months, but not unbearable. But in the winter, I freeze - so hello stockings and tights!
Most women I know wear them for the most part, but not in summer.
Also, I can't stand the feel of my dress shoes without stockings! If my feet sweat (like in summer) they will stick, I can get blisters, and my feet and ankles can swell if I don't have hose on... and who wants to see that? Yuck!

Hi all,
I'll speak for my SO here.
She only wears pantyhose in the cold winter months. And she usually wears them underneath her slacks or pants. When she wears a skirt (again, in the winter months), she'll usually wear a pair of matching tights (which is what we, up here, call much thicker pantyhose--we're talking 60 or 70 deniers as opposed to a regular pair of pantyhose's 15 or 20 deniers). Tights are much more opaque than pantyhose. Again, she'll wear either in winter but neither in summer. Summer is for bare legs, as far as she's concerned. Even with a closed shoe. The exception, of course, is the dressy evening out; then, she'll stoop to wearing pantyhose (pardon the pun).
Stockings are for those rare occasions when pantyhose just won't do. And I'll leave that at that.
Love,
CJ
