GIRLY MUSIC WHILE CD'ING

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

GIRLY MUSIC WHILE CD'ING

Post by Belinda »

I love music when I am crossdressed. I have got quite a good singing voice and I can sing in a female voice. My faves are, "Promise Me", Beverly Craven anything by The Corrs a selection of Vicki Carr numbers and a few by Celine Dion and recently Rita Coolidge and the U.K's Kathy Kirby. Now you cant get more girly than Kathy Kirby.

If only I could do a Jim Bailey and look like these glam ladies. Better still look like a real girl, but Jim is very good I have to say.

My tastes in music are probably a bit different from Belinda's. I also can't sing to save my life, much less sing like a girl (apparently if you want to get a passable woman's voice, one of the things they try to get you to do is sing in a feminine key). But CDing and music are linked for me.

It's not that I put on girly tunes when I'm dressed up; it's that I really like female vocalists and, over the years, have noticed that I keep identifying with them in a way that I don't often do with the men. Particularly I seem to have a thing for Country-related singers - e.g Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Reba MacIntyre, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris. But also Sandy Denny and older Bonnie Raitt. I'm pretty sure I'm trying to steal bits of Bonnie Raitt's appearance when I dress up (operative word being trying). This also relates to the way I identify with the heroines in movies.

Jim Bailey's voice (on the small experience I've had) seemed very good and he made a very, very convincing woman. But i'm not sure that you have to be as girly-looking a man as he was(?is) to do that.

Belinda... I also relate to music while dressing and not dressing. As I sing and play guitar, (in drab but under dressed) at a local restaurant, I am always looking for stuff that fits my style and personality. I am hippie, folk, rock oriented and tend to do things by people you know but haven't heard in a hundred years, and tunes by those you love but may not be familiar with. It's always fun and I have a good time. My wife also sings and sits in on a few tunes here and there. Good times. Free drinks and a meal and tips on top of that. Yay...I also tend to like softer stuff when I'm dressed en femme and harder rock stuff when in drab, ( who'd have thought...), although I'm always under dressed 24/7 except for my once every two weeks visit to the V.A. clinic for injection therapy. It keeps my fem/dude stuff in balance. LOL. Enjoy the tunes. All we have is to be happy and have a good time. Rock on girl!!! ``5

Music is such a big part of my life that there is no difference in what I listen to when I am dressed, however it is a long held and as yet unfulfilled ambition to perform with a band or orchestra as Paula, so if any one is putting together a band and needs a Bass trombone or tuba...........

Hi Belinda, I believe music effects our moods. Wether femme or drab music is the one thing we can count on to be there and put us in our happy place. I sing (was in a band for a bit) anything that I know that I can hit the notes on. It doesn't matter male or female I sing it out loud strong and proud. So Sing on.
On Paula's note; Come on Paula we could get something started. =D>

I think one of my all time favourite moments listening to girly musc while cd'ing is being donned in a black dress and matching tights singing along to Celine Dion, especially "Treat Her Like A Lady." and "I Remember L.A. i used to do this a lot when I had days off work and could spend hours being Belinda.
