Short Hair can be stylish and sexy.

Post by VickiCD »

When I was young, I had beautiful long hair, but as I got older my taste change and so did my hairstyles. Can you imagine how it felt that day, I decided to cut my hair short? Was I out of my mind? No, not really. [-o<

In all of its transformations and variations, the short hairstyle has always been numbered at the top of the list when it comes to versatility, style and manageability. No other style catches the eye quite like the short hair style and no other style makes the wearer look as professional, chic and sexy as the short hair style

Short hairstyles worn by women are a fairly new style trend when compared with women's hairstyles in general. In fact, cropped styles only came to the forefront of fashion a little more than 50 years ago. Since that time, the short hairstyle has given women the freedom to express themselves in numerous ways. From the funky and spiked to the soft and feminine, the short hairstyle can be worn by any cross dresser of any personality, style and age.

Short hair no matter what the age

It has long been a held belief that an older woman should wear a short hair style to make her appear younger. While there is some truth in the belief that long hair tends to make wrinkles and flaws more noticeable, short hair styles and long hair styles can both be worn by women of all ages if they choose the right style to compliment their particular face shape and bone structure.

A good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to choosing a short hairstyle to suit your age is to pay more attention to your overall appearance rather than focus too much on how old you are. For example: Trendy, spiked styles can emphasize flaws and sagging skin, but I have seen cross dressers in their 60s with exceptional bone structure wear these short hair styles and look amazing. On the other hand, I have also seen younger cross dressers try to wear these same short hairstyles and not be able to quite carry it off. So, if you want to wear a short hairstyle, pay close attention to your face shape, build and style of dress before deciding how to cut your hair.

Short hair to flatter your face

I've heard it said many times by many people, 'I always wanted to wear a short hair style, but I don't look right with short hair.' Ladies, this is nonsense. Granted, not every woman can wear every short hairstyle, but every woman can wear a short hairstyle that is tailor-made to compliment their face shape and beautiful features.

There are five basic face shapes: oval, heart, round, square and triangular. All of these shapes can be beautiful, but one is ideal: oval. No matter what shaped face you have, achieving the perfect look involves picking the right cut or short hairstyle that will make your face appear more oval.

To do this, you and your stylists can try different variations of popular short hairstyles to compliment your individual features. For example: If you have a round face shape, you can still wear your favourite short hair style as long as you bring some hair forward on your cheekbones and wear a little height in the bang to give your face the illusion that it is oval.

The bottom line is that the short hairstyle is not for just a few who have been blessed with perfectly proportioned features. With the right short hairstyle, you too can sport trendy sexy cropped locks that will be guaranteed to turn a few heads.

This all based on experience...ladies.

Lots of little details distinguish women's short hair from men's. For starters, women's styles are more elaborate -- whether layered, moused, spiked, etc. But even the "boy cut," which is closest to a man's style has subtle differences, for example the sideburns are pointed and wispier for women, while men's sideburns are cut straight.

Part of it also is women's browlines are often shaped differently than men's as well -- women usually have an inverted U shape, while many men have an M-shaped hairline even if they don't have a lot of hair loss.

Who is the female reporter on TV with the real real short hair and she still looks so feminine???? Then you have the woman who is the Pentagon reporter, Barbara Starr, and she looks like the proverbial "guy in a dress." I know I have been through several wig lengths, from the very short to the almost waist length and have found for me it is a "medium" length just above the shoulders and a wavy style, not curly or straight, those just does not work for me. I learned this on my own, but I would recommend that if you have a wig shop that will work with you, it will probably be a lot cheaper to try on different lengths, and styles until you find the one that says "YES! that's her!!!!
Good luck and dress for her!

Right on Virginia. By the way your hairstyle in your avatar is darling, you remind of me of Doris Day only you are sexer.

By the way girls, "Beauty Trends" wig co., is haveing a big sale on now.
Check it out @ Beauty Trends .com

I tried on a short wig once, it was so cute. It looed just like Jane Fonds hair in Klute, but my face is just too round to pull it off. I'll stick with the mid length with curls. :)

On a serious note, and I am not blowing sunshine up anyone' skirt, but other than Virginia almost demands that she look good when she goes out, I never loose sight of the fact that I and all of us who venture out into the vast wasteland of the great unwashed, we are ambassadors for all of our sisters!
damn, girl, you made my night, my week and more!!!!
Love ya,

Agree. Short hair is the latest trend. But most of the women prefer wearing short wig style to cutting their hair.

Thank you Vicki for this topic. I have tried long hair -the first inclination- and it's so sexy, but in refining my look, I've discovered that a shorter look makes my face seem so much more natural and sweeter. I don't do super short, but just above the shoulders and a color that matches my eyebrows. Brown eyebrows and blonde hair look so fake. It's not to say that I don't like long hair, I have a new hairpiece on order now that is just below the shoulder, but it sure takes alot of experimentation and $ to get it right... When you find what works, stick with it. But , it's still fun to experiment if you have the money. One thing I do notice sometimes is that with long hair it's important to shift your hairpiece to the side a bit to get that swooping look over your forehead. Don't always part it in the middle as it looks too fake. And don't be afraid to brush it out. Just remember to clean the hairs out of your brush and the sink..don't forget the floor! That is, if you're in the closet like me.

Most of my wigs are short cut, but most of my blonde wigs are long. Being a mature lady I feel that the short cut best fits me and my lifestyle. :)

For the people who know Carol Ann (family and friends)all tell me that my short curle wigs are my best look for me. I would love to wear shoulder length hair but everybody tells me NO not a good look for you.

And the real person who I HAVE to make happy is the wife rotf as she is the boss :P
Now another thing color is also a factor, in my case a very light wheat blonde is the best so I have been told.

Short hair isn't always sexy... Most short hair styles on this old lady just make me older and I'm not sexy now let alone looking older. :)

It's always amazed me how much various hair styles can change how you look - a few years ago at work I walked by our admin girl thinking they hired someone new and then she said aren't you going to say high Mike? and recognized her voice...wow, totally fooled me 8)
