What Is Drab?

Post by Martha G »

That term has been used around the forum quite a bit.

I am still confused a bit to it's meaning.

What sort of clothing would I need to go out in drab?

Do you use any makeup?

This may be a good starter for me before I go out dressed fully as a woman.

Thank's ladies for any advise.

DRAB = DRessed As a Boy (ie, a male).

In other words, absolutely no female attire, shoes, purses, makeup, jewelry, etc. at all. [-(

Well I think that this would not be suitable for a 73 year old!

Anyway I want to be a WOMAN not a boy. I love dressing as and acting as a woman!

I want to be Martha

The style you're looking for is casual. Just the right look for the average mature lady. Low heels, longer skirts or slacks, minimal make up and jewelry.
Too many CD's over dress and draw unneeded attention doing every day business.

Your avatar photo is just right, not too flashy nor boring.

Though I make an attractive woman when dressed, I do not want to overdo it.

However, I like to dress very fashionably when dressed.

Martha, the term drab is commonly used here to mean that one is wearing their typical male clothes. Not necessarily dressed as a "boy" but dressed as the average guy might dress. There's a slight negative connotation with it, not because the clothing is particularly drab but because we wish we were wearing something else. Something like: "I'm forced to wear Armani suits to my office on Wall Street, but I really wish I were wearing a turquoise pencil skirt, with matching blazer and killer heels."

So drab isn't a style itself, it's a term meaning "clothes we wish we were not wearing right now." Yeah, you don't want that.

Actually, Martha posed a very good question! I knew what the term meant, but I didn't know that there was an actual meaning... IE: Dressed as a boy. It's true... you do learn something new everyday!! :)

Hi ,

In our Renaissance groups we use mundane so means very plain looking though it really means as Renaissance people when we change from our Garb into your normal day wear of the 2016 time we don't have 1400 to 1700 Garb on ,

Myself some of the time I do as I mix and match and as I do make more design make and sew I will be seen much more in my German style garb / clothes, don't like western style , I wear them just not me , sorry I'm just different ,
