Do you think of hosiery be it sheer hose or tights as a necessity or a fashion accessory?

I usually wear a sheer or something with a little color in the summer, winter often wear tights or opaque hosiery. But some people can sure rock hosier as a fashion accessory, but i am not really into that.

For hosiery do you prefer panty hose, stockings, or thigh highs?

Can't remember the last time I wore sheer hose but it was definitely pantyhose.
