SCIENTISTS FIND CLUES WHY WE ARE AS WE ARE

Scientists find clues to why men feel like women | The Independent https://www.independent.co.uk/news/scie ... 36839.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is so important for many of us!

Yes, I'm so glad such information is coming out. It is so hard to feel female in a male body and try to explain that to people who just say you're crazy, delusional, or perverted with a fetish.... people who deny our reality. Yet, we have lived our lives this way. I am not gay...I am a male lesbian...even as a woman, I am attracted to women.
Yet I am not I believe fully trans sexual, I sway. The size of this area...maybe there is an in between...how else would those like myself be explained? Anyway, there are explanations and the general public are going to have to acknowledge it and accept it.

Perhaps it's something in the water? https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/06/health/t ... tudy-trnd/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No longer does LGBTQ encompass all outside of M and F. I've read somewhere that someone has compiled a list of over 100 "genders".

I think the multiple descriptions of the individual and unique ways people feel or think about how they identify inside are nothing more than just that. There are not hundreds of different genders it's ridiculous! And makes us a laughingstock. First Sexual orientation has no place in a definition on gender. Second there are only two... and these two primary genders are whatever is in your head. The body we are born with by coincidence matches the gender most people feel that they are but gender is this sense we have inside of our brain telling us who we are, it has nothing to do with the body we are born with. A sex organ has no mental or emotional or reasoning ability and is not able to identify with anything...it just is and functions as formed.

What we have are two genders at opposite ends of a spectrum and then all the degrees in between. Our place on this spectrum may be matched by others or be unique. Men and women share many tendencies...women can be gruff, straight forward, independent, decisive, aggressive and competitive...and Men can be the opposite or somewhere in between and all men and women do share tendencies in between.

It is very difficult to say anything about gender other than that is is just the sense that "this is who I am" it is our core identity no matter our behavior...most tom boys will absolutely tell you I am a woman! And there are even men who are like men who will tell you "I am a woman!" Just as this article states there are many trans men and women running around who still exhibit what we think of as typical feminine or masculine behavior while their sense of who they are ... their core identity is opposite so that people wonder why didn't they go all the way....

I was confused myself about this...why do I have so many stereotypical tendencies and the body of a male yet sense that I am a woman? I am sensitive, emotional, caring....this does not make me a woman...even women are this way yet my core identity tells me I am a woman! Sometimes I would be made up and dressing ... the feel confused and silly and my internal voice would begin to tell me you are a man! you are a male! what are you doing!? You exhibit tendencies that are masculine!!! All true never the less my core identity is transgender and female, or a mix of both.

I am beyond thinking of myself as two different people shifting back and forth! that's ridiculous! I am one person! Men and women cannot lay exclusive claim to anything...traits, tendencies, emotions, feelings, etc... but I am who I am inside which persistently tends to lead me in the female direction.

I think my male direction is not as great in reality because I have had to suppress and hide and live ...I was socialized, and conditioned and had to work and succeed to survive by maintaining appearances....out of fear primarily so that it masked the true degree to which I am a woman! I may be mid spectrum...or slightly more to the feminine in reality that is what I believe.

Further...No I am not delusional or deranged or mentally ill or crazy...the ones insisting we are happen to be in the lucky majority who have a body and a gender that match! But our body forms first under certain hormone conditions...then for some when the brain is forming about a month later different hormone levels are present during a key time shifting our who I am sense...our gender to an opposite direction from our body...we may be in the minority but it happens and has always happened from the beginning of human existence.

As for the stupid religious fanatics screaming this does not match what ancient people reasoned and set down in their flawed ancient texts understood nothing...they just looked at sex organs and said woman...or man and therefore gender...well they are flat out wrong! They are the delusional ones! Religion has absolutely nothing at all to do with biology, just as sexual orientation has absolutely nothing at all to do with gender!!!!

Let me clarify...my emotional frustration is related to the difficulty, the intangible nature of the "who I am" sense. I am also frustrated with the naysayers, the closed minded religious idiots, and everyone confusing this topic so that people are misled or confused by irrelevant or false ideas...on and on... but I am not with you Bernice you're fine! Don't think I am yelling at you I am just frustrated because I am now 61 and have had to figure this out for myself over a lifetime and only now when I am in the last phase of my life I missed being able to live my life as I should have been able to... Why was I not allowed to be who I was supposed to be well can't go back I can only go forward with the life remaining to me.

Imagine how my life could have been different had my mother bought dresses for me to wear and encouraged me to be who I am rather than forcing me to be a man because I had a penis!

Note: Well sex is determined at fertilization by chromosomes. But it is also true that hormone fluctuations effect brain development...this is so very complicated because there is not a simple single neural pathway but multiple networks involved so that it would make a very complicated puzzle to figure out why someone feels their self to be male or female...so much for who ever came up with this hormone fluctuation theory...as an RN it's easy to not think and be sucked in you have to keep asking questions. Suffice it to say no one can say why we identify male or female....only that we do and who knows why some are transgender...they just are.

Well... I sometimes encounter chromosome bigots in Facebook. My standard response is to point out abnormality, such as XXY and XYY and what not.

If there are only two genders, then one would think surely the international Olympic committee would have no problem determining who competes in which competitions, but yes, even after a century of struggling with the issue, they have no reliable solution to the problem. It just isn't nearly as simple as it seems.

You and I had very similar childhood brainwashing/manipulation, to no overwhelming constructive benefit, and a fair amount of mental anguish. Nothing we can do about that now.

I still think the duality of gender is a myth, perpetuated mostly by fortunate cis-gendered, but then again, it's not something I can prove, anymore than the Olympic Committee can resolve its problem.

Life remains complicated. I still hate pants. And would love to go sailing again.

For hundreds of years people have shouted down scientists whose discoveries have threatened the simplicity of the world they lived in. When Galileo and Copernicus announced that the Earth was neither flat nor stationary, the religious establishment forced them to retract their statements. People simply could not understand how they could be safe if the Earth was a sphere hurtling through space. But it is and we are.
Charles Darwin also shocked a lot of people when he published "On the Origin of Species." Some people tried to ridicule his ideas by saying that he'd implied that when God created life he hadn't got it right the first time, and that this was, of course, an idiocy. Some people still do!
So, yes, there are a lot of people around who will say they know better than the scientists, partly because they're afraid that admitting they were wrong themselves would hurt their precious little egos.
What science says about gender is common sense. It is against the nature of nature itself to be binary. And the scientific view always wins out in the end.
