Summer Movies

Post by Lorna »

So, which movies have you seen thus far this summer? :)

I have seen the following:

Spiderman 2 - LOVED it!!! The best I have seen thus far this summer. Excellent storyline, action, comedy, special effects. 2 painted thumbnails up!! =D>

Anchorman - I don't know why this movie got such good reviews. This movie just didn't make it for me - I expected better from a movie with Will Ferrell. :?

Farenheit 9/11 - I know there are mixed feelings on this very controversial film, but I for one liked it!

White Chicks - As a CD and a long time Wayans Bros fan, I guess my opinion may be a little biased on this one, but I really enjoyed it. Despite the lousy reviews, I laughed a lot!! rotf I think they only basically "passed" as white CDs, but not white women... Marlon did look kinda cute tho... rotf

What movies have you seen this summer and what did you think? Post your personal reviews here... :-k

Hey Hey Lorna,

I have seen Spiderman 2; LOVED IT! For all the same reasons you posted. Not to mention the fact that, and I so can't think of his name, the starring role was played by a very good actor.

Farenheit 9/11: I also enjoyed it. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know about the Bush family and the Arabs. Really made me think :-k

His name is Tobey Maguire. I also liked him in Pleasantville. :)

I can't believe he's 29!!! He looks so much younger.

I saw Spiderman 2. It was very good, but I found myself crying through a good part of the film. I usually go to the movies to get away from real life, but too much of the characters' troubles reminded me of my own.

Money's been tight, of late, so I haven't seen as many movies as I'd like. The last I saw previous to this was Saved. That's one I didn't think I'd like; I ended up loving it! It's a teen-oriented comedy set in a Christian high school. There are lots of jokes, but it's not so much about making fun of religion as about close-mindedness.

Next up on my viewing schedule: Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, a comedy, and M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, which looks reeeally SPOOKY. ..OO..

ahem, I watch a lot of movies, but I generally wait until they come out on DVD. But I did watch F-911 in a theatre a few days after it was released. How often do people applaude after a film? go see it.

Hi all,

Last film I saw wasn't really a summer movie; I took my little niece to see the third Harry Potter installment. It felt like a television series episode; it wasn't a bad film, but I get the feeling the producers don't put as much effort into this kind of movie because they're aware the audience is already familiar with the characters and the backstory (such as it is). My niece enjoyed it, though.

Like Alexandra, I usually wait for a film to come out on DVD (last film I saw on DVD: the Japanese action/gangster flick, Ichi the Killer--it should have a RRR rating! ).

One film I do plan on seeing when it comes out at the end of this month is The Thunderbirds. Yes, those Thunderbirds! I've always been a big fan of all of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Super-Marionation stuff; I'm curious to see if a live-action flick will do it justice. :-k

Love,
CJ

Well I am movie fanatic (when I have money) This summer (begging with early summer)

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Thought it was just a so so movie do to the fact that took to many liberties with the book unlike the first to movies.

Shrek 2 - In my opion one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Good story great plot and increadable visual. What else, oh yea the little and some what bias but funny inside CD jokes.

Spider-Man 2 - Like shrek 2 really enjoyable movie and like shrek 2 the sequal (which is rare) is better than the first movie.

Fahrenheit 9/11 - OK every one has opion on this movie no matter who you are. I liked the movie just as a movie in it's own but I have also like all his other films.

I, Robot - OK so they took some liberties with Issac Asimiz (sorry if name spelled wrong) story but this is a great movie. I thought I was going to be bored by seeing all the previews but was then surpised by the story and was well impressed by the visual.

I am looking forward to the Village even though I am not sure I will be able to handle after seeing a preview last night on ABC. Just from the short view scared the wits out of me but that is why I am going to see the movie. I am also looking forward to Alien Vs. Predator.
