Hi all,
No, I wasn't referring to a specific chat room. I've never been to chat rooms outside the one on this forum. What I do is this (though I haven't done it in a while, now): I connect to a sister who also uses Yahoo Messenger and, once a conversation is going, we can invite anyone else who's also on our "Friends" list (and who's online, of course) to join in on it (or to allow her to join if she wants in). I guess it's called a conference chat. It's the same principle as the chat room on this board, the only difference being you can only chat with people who are on your list of friends. The same procedure applies to MSN Messenger. I'm not familiar with either AOL or ICQ. Although I know some are able to chat to many different people simultaneously in different instances of Messenger (many windows at once, in other words--a multi-tasker's advantage), I've never been good at this. I get scattered.
The advantage, for me, of using Yahoo or MSN chat software is that these programs are fast, flexible, and responsive. You can also chat "hands-free," if you wish (by using your computer's microphone and speaker... it's a hoot hearing a sister's voice!). You can also surf in "Invisible" mode, if you're not particularly in the mood to connect on any given night.
Love,
CJ
