Should I?

Post by SophieLawson »

Hiyaaaa,

OK, I have only ever been clothes shopping with my Mum and she always pays for my goods when I give her the money. I was in town today with my Sis and we went in Debenhams, who have a MASSIVE sale on, I saw so many nice things but we had to rush home cos her daughter was coming out of school.

So I am now sooo wanting to go in debenhams for some clothes cos so many nice things there had 70% off stickers on and stuff.

So, shell I go shopping tomorrow on my own? I'm thinking what the hell, but do you get lots of people looking at you when your on your own shopping? Or shell I just pretend in my head that it is for my girlfriend or something?

OHHH and Debenhams had a free nail beauty thing going on, where you got ya nails done up for free. All these girls sitting there getting their nails done, I was thinking, arghhhh wish I could be there :( What would they say if I went and sat down there lol

I don't know what your problem is Sophie :P , You look too good not to go shopping while dressed. Just image being able to try on the clothes and then getting your nails done.

Anyway, if you insist on shopping in drab, don't worry about a thing. Get right in there and find what you want. No need to pretend who your shopping for, no one will ask (usually). Just be yourself, smile at anyone who might stare and have fun.

Hi Sophie,

I'm with Donna. You're totally a babe. :) Go! I doubt anyone will even notice you're a TG'd person. I don't suggest you wear anything too hot (looking) because you'll be approached by guys, but I think you should totally do it. I wish you the best, no matter what you decide. :)

Please be safe no matter what you decide.

Being comfortable about going out.

Post by Estefania »

Hi Sophie.

Like Donna and Beuaty said... I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to go out enfemme. However, once I said that, it doesn't mean that you are already comfortable with it.

If you don't feel like you are ready to go shopping enfemme, then, don't. You and only you will know when/if you will want to do that. It depends a lot on how much you may have to lose if being recognized, and if you are willing to pay the price. (Because no matter how good we may think that we look, we may still be read and worse, recognized) Do you think that you could handle the situation, if you were there shopping and people was able to read you? Or if you were already having your manicure done and somebody addressed to you as "sir"? If you think you could survive that... I would say that you are more than ready! :o)

If you do it... I sure hope you enjoy it!! By looking at your pics I can only see a very pretty woman. Do you see that pretty woman in the mirror, too?

Good luck!!

Hi Sophie,

I agree with all the gals here. Go and enjoy!

And there is nothing at all to be nervous about, sweetie... I can tell you're shy, but as for anyone around you, how do they know that you're not shopping for a girlfriend or sister? Just take a few deep breaths, walk in naturally and confidently. You're a customer! 8)

You're there to spend. You're helping the store staff & owners feed their families by spending your money in their store. They don't care about your gender. They just want to make a sale!

Have fun!! (--)

lol, nooooo, I am never going shopping dressed up :) I mean going shopping as me Kevin for girls clothes :)

I asked my Mum what she thought and she said don't worry about it, she said she's always buying boy clothes for her bloke. I said it's a bit different for me, but she said Dad used to buy her clothes a Christmas and stuff so I'm just gonna go and pretend it's for a girlfriend :)

When I hand the money over I'll have to hide my long nails somehow :?

Anyways, thanks people I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as I'm pooing myself lol :)

I have been doing it for about 18 years , I remember the first time was a big rush of nerves and the thrill of walking out of the shop with a girls item.
These days its just like going to buy a bottle of milk , I dont give it a thought anymore.

Sophie ,

You'll find that nobody cares or notices , they will just assume your buying for someone else.

Have fun anyway!

Hi girls,

This does bring up an interesting and funny thing that happened to me. Being a married person, and having a teen daughter, and being the person who did the shopping. On more than one occassion I needed to buy feminine hygene products for my wife and daughter. I never had a problem with this, even though I know this embarrasses most men.

However, after coming out of the closet, and being dressed in public, purchasing these products while dressed, I found to be quite embarrassing. Like they were now thinking "What is he going to do with those?" Strange how your perception of things can change.

Sophie, I predict you are inccorrect about never making a purchase while dressed. The future is indeed not certain.

Love always,
Elizabeth

What I find ironic, Sophie, is that you're frightened to go out dressed yet have your image on the Internet for anyone who knows you to find.

I mean, if your brave enough to put your images in the Internet, surely your brave enough to go out en femme. Maybe some support by an accompanying companion (mom)?

Oh well, I guess we can't convince you. So have fun.

I've had my nails painted and had glancing looks from the cashier, no stares, no questions. Life's too short to worry about what I may perceive what someone else thinks they may or may not know just by looking at my nails. And if yours aren't painted, no worries what so ever, the eyes of the casier are on the money.

That makes perfect sense! Any sense of "disapproval" we think we may detect is all in our minds... 8)

Sophie,

I think you should go shopping by yourself. I've bought clothing for my wife for 25 years before buying for myself for over 2 years (always in male mode in the real stores). The first couple of times when I was buying lingerie for my wife I felt a little uneasy but I got used to it.

Go ahead and shop for some things "for your girlfriend" if that's what you choose to use for a reason. A small notebook with a list of sizes, colors, styles, etc. can be a reference and a confidence booster.

Please post about your shopping trip.
