Lawren is a short form of my boy name. (Lawrence) I find that it makes things more convenient when ordring femme things off the net or from catalogs. It also gives me a measure of "plausible deniabilty". If someone asks awkward questions I can say that it was a spelling error.
I got my name from my first true love,who also is the mother of my son, but she just could not handle having a drunk around. I dont blame her. Having her name helps me to keep her close to my heart. She and I are still friends.
Former nieghbor's name. She was a majorette and I loved the uniform she wore. Wish I had had the nerve to borrow it for halloween.
My wife doesn't like the name Donna though, because it was also a lady's she worked with and could not stand. So she never calls me by a fem name, well not never, sometimes she'll come up with a name when I'm in my maid's uniform.

I remember starting this thread long ago and as I read my initial post, I thought I would add a bit more background on my femme name choice:
In addition to my reasons in my first post, My male first name starts with the letter J and the first 3 letters of my male middle name are Dan. I made a feminine spelling and thought it was just right for me.
I chose Sallee from a line in a Lou Reed tune. "Sallee can dance She wheres eye brows on her knees" At least I thinkthat is what it says.

My name is in reality Jamie......such an androgynous name, why change it. It seems more real for some reason, as real as my "femme" persona. Anybody that knows me, either side of my person, always calls me by it, and it seems more natural. My name is a real part of me, and I don't see any reason to seperate my masculine and feminine side with a name, it seems more honest this way.
Since my father named me after his father, I figured that if I had been born a girl, he would have named me after his mother, Margaret - for which "Maggie" would be a nick-name. Also, I liked the Rod Stewart song.
When I became aware sometime in the 1990s that there were lots of other men who enjoyed wearing feminine clothing — and, indeed, that there existed a “crossdressing subculture” of sorts — I soon discovered that using a femme name was more or less expected. Following the lead of others, I selected one and created a web page on which I introduced myself to anyone who might be interested. Before long, I decided that the name I had selected was not really me, so I selected another one — and, of course, revised my web page! When Lacey Leigh’s book, Out & About: The Emancipated Crossdresser, was published in 2001, I eagerly read it from cover to cover in a day or two. One thing that particularly struck me was her attitude towards her femme and homme selves. She wrote, “Each of us is a person who is exploring additional facets of a single personality, not two people in one body.” Thinking about that, and being somewhat ambivalent about my femme name, anyway, I once again chose a new name, this time a feminization of my homme name. It has now been 3½ years since I became Jamie Ann, and I doubt that any further changes are in my future. The name I am currently using (on this forum) started as an e-mail ID for online ordering and such, but came from two women: Constance (Connie) and Celeste, my last name I used cause my father's first name was Donald.
The way that I chose my femme name is rather cheesy...
My femme name came from the game Final Fantasy VI. She's a character that was a general in an Imperial army, but quit knowing that they were doing horrible things to defenseless people, so she tried to quit and got jailed for it. After that, she got rescued buy a theif named Locke, who fought against the empire with a group of rebels who called themselves the Returners. Long story short, the bad guys plunge the world into ruin, and Celes gets marooned on a remote island, she takes a raft and finds the rest of the world, and then finds all of her friends and they beat the crap out of the bad guy.
My mom gave me mine when she told me if i would have been a girl it would be Billie Renee,so I go by Renee most of the time,but not afraid to use my real name if needed
I heard of my name from my old work i used to do, her name was Jada, she was a server were i cooked at and i thought she was hot, and the name Jada sticked with me cause i like to call her name when a meal was ready to be served.
Only recently did I start to read CD boards because the CD in me was reawakened recently. Until I started reading boards I had never put any real thought into a femme name.
At first I used Sarrah. It's a pretty name and fairly simple. Then my wife found out about my CD side. She has a friend named Sara (not where I got the name, at least not consciously) and I although I have not told her I have a femme name, I know that telling her it's Sarrah would not sit well, "you HAD to choose a name of my friend?". So I changed it.
Aeryn is a character from Farscape, a sci fi show that use to be on the Sci Fi channel. I opted for it for a couple reasons. The first I like the show and the second is I was pretty sure no one else would be using it as a screen name.
