Taco Bell® Drive-thru

Hi girls,

Just wanted to share an interesting and amusing little event in my life. A few days ago me and Raven(SO) went to the drive thru at the local Taco Bell®. This is almost always amusing because I dress full time and I always drive and hence make the order. I make the order and drive up to the first window where the girl tells me how much to pay.

I start getting into my purse to get my wallet out and pay and I can see that this girl is hangin out the window of the drive-thru leaning down looking into my car so she can see Raven in the passenger seat. At this point I still have not said anything. I get my wallet out, get the money and as I am handing this money to the, now almost out of the building girl taking money, and I say. "Are you looking for the dude who just ordered?"

And she immediately breaks up laughing uncontrollably with both surprise and embarassment.in her voice. I then said "now you can tell everyone you met a transgendered person". She somewhat regained her composure and said "you're not the first". She then got my change and as she leaned over to give it to me she asked if Raven was my daughter to which I replied "no, she's my wife". She then leaned out the window again and almost yelled "YOU ARE HOT!!!!! YOU ARE REALLY HOT!!!" with a big smile on her face.

Me and Raven(SO) were both speechless, and I just drove up to the next window. It is so nice to go out and have positive experiences in an accepting community. I wish this for all my sisters out there. All the years I spend in total fear it would seem was for nothing. I just can't beleive that it took wearing women's clothes to hear another woman, besides my wife, say that I am hot. It was in fact that first time that has ever happened. It is not that I look so different as much as I beleive I look happy now and confident in who I am.

Hey Elizabeth,

That's so great!! Many a night I would freak them out in the drive-thru in a similar manner... they hear a male voice ordering, but see a female driving up to the window... always mess with their minds!!

Hi Elizabeth,

That's cool. I think drive in people see the most CD'rs and TG'd people. I think they are used to it, especially after the sun sets.

Hey Elizabeth,

Drive in people need people to do what you did, It breaks there routine, gives them something to talk about, and shortens the length of their shift. You probably made her day.

Hi Elizabeth--
Life can be fun, when other people are having fun with what you do. You might not have been able to pull this off in years past, so be glad that you can and are doing it NOW. I was having fun today, being out dressed for a benefit concert that I was going to play tonight. I went to a local coffee shop, and then later went to a supermarket nearby the church where we played. I didn't get any real head-turning at all, and many people went by without glances or comment to their companions.

I'm glad you're still out there, going for your second year!

That's great Elizabeth and thanks for sharing. Good for you!

Drive thru's are indeed an interesting experience. I'm sure we've all done it as it is a kind of 'right of passage'. The male voice at the intercom and the female driving up to the window can indeed be a little disconcerting to some folks. However, those that make an attempt to address you properly or who prefer not to say anything, are OK by me. When they still choose to address you as 'sir' even though you are obviously presenting as a female, then perhaps they deserve to have that order tossed back through the window, or better yet, just left on the ground as you drive away.

(yes, I've had that happen to me a couple of times at the same drive thru which I now avoid).

So looking forward to an Elizabeth experience. It doesn't get any better than that!

Hi girls,

I just love posting these positive experiences because I remember how much I loved and still do love hearing such stories. Before I "came out" hearing these stories influenced me greatly in my decision to "come out". It was the realization that others were doing what I wanted to do, and were not dying. I remember feeling so jealous and at the same time angry with myself for not having the courage to do the same.

I clearly remember asking myself all the time "why not me?". I have no desire to push anyone into doing anything they are not 100% certain they want to do, just to inspire those who like me, long to do it, but need a reason or incentive.

Congratulations on your lastest adventure in the real world!

A few weeks ago, I had lunch inside a local Jack in the Box, dressed in a long sleeved black minidress, long sleeved black leotard underneath with black tights, black bra, padding, and 3 inch heels. There weren't many people inside the restaurant. I think most ordered via drive-thru! The cashier took my order without any comments about my appearance. I even paid with my credit card that had my male name on it! I had a few glances from two female workers behind the counter. I looked back at them and smiled back at them! Other patrons didn't seem to notice my appearance as a girl!

Isn't it wonderful to go out and about in public without being harrassed or humiliated in front of everyone?
