Hi Girls:

We all want to save money. Chemistry can be complicated at times and we all look for simple things that really work.

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner (for your hair silly), is fantastic on the skin. After drying it is tacky for a few seconds but then, tada, smooth and the skin tightens. It is natural to the skin with vitamins and glucose (natural sugar the body uses for energy, everything we eat is converted to glucose so it can be absorbed by your cells). Using it on the face first after washing. Allow to dry, skin tightens, is smooth and ready for your base makeup. WOW! This could not be easier or more simple or inexpensive for aging skin.

Once you have tried this, you will swear by it. Price compared to products with Q10 etc., this is a life saver and is truly pocket book friendly. The chemical composition is similar to expensive creams with Q10. Keep it out of your eyes of course!

I've heard the top Hollywood make-up artists pat Preparation H around puffy eyes to help reduce the swelling, just like it does for that more sensitive area. (No kidding! They don't tell the stars/models what it is, either.)

Danielle - Thanks for the tip, I have put the Garnier Fructose Fortifying Deep Conditioner on my shopping list . . . for Virginia to use, not me!!

Kathy - You're right, they do use the PrepH trick on puffy eyes. I've tried it, but it doesn't work as fast - or as well - as they would like you to believe. I've found that an ice-cold washcloth and/or ice packs still work better and faster.

A word of warning in using the PrepH, though - be very sure you don't get it too close to the eyes or in the eyes as it can cause some serious eye damage!!

Well, I have been using "it" for about a week - my nose fell off, my ears moved to the same side of my head and ------ just kidding, but I have been using it and I can't say for sure, as I use some other products as well, mainly Oil of Olay and some other stuff, but it seems to definitely make my skin a bit smoother.

On another note, I got somewhat the same reaction from using Extra Virgin Olive Oil,--------------- BUT I developed, after about three weeks, a rather, shall I say, ?interesting? body odor!? So I have stopped using Olive Oil, at least for a while.

It's hell to get old, but I intend to fight it until I win!!!

The interesting thing about Olive oil is of course, it is organic. It can go bad after a time. Usually, it becomes cloudy and gets a funny odor to it. If the oil was fresh, you may have a bodily chemical reaction to olive oil. Some people have a minor reaction to olive oil as a natural responce to olives.

Considered one of the most neutral organic substances for humans, olive oil from different regions can have a different smell and taste. That is what makes olive oil fragrant of course. Regional olive oil competitions are not uncommon.

I continue to use the olive oil at night. I shower in the AM before work and use just a dap on the face as a lubricant before make-up. I apply with a small make-up sponge. This may not be for everyone. My skin is dry. I absorb the oil quickly after a shower, because it needs it.

If your skin is naturally oily, then, perhaps less is more.

I am trying the NEW "Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion," with a heavy dose of "dimethicone," as found in the products from the "Oat" based lotions, Aveeno products.

So far I am happy with the results. Safe enough to use on the face but keep away from the eyes. It lives up to the hype. As good as "Aveeno" Oat based products. The price is similar.

As we all know, the FDA in the U.S. will not permit any DNA altering drugs on the open market with good cause for the most part. So most lotions are just surface coatings to hold in moisture. They cannot on their own, rebuild collagen or stimulate collagen per se.

The "Gold Bond" product claims to support new collagen growth because of the vitamins, but, it to cannot directly stimulate new collagen growth. Only a prescrption product can do this and it is controlled by the medical profession.

Remember that [IPL] besides safely removing hair, clearing sun spots and spider veins, will stimulate collagen growth to some extent. A recent spot light on this technology on a medical channel explained it's limits in detail. I was satisfied with my [IPL] experience in removing 95% of my beard hair. I can now count less than 30 visible hairs about the lips and chin.

I will have those zapped in the Fall as a final treatment effort. A spot LASER would be more than adequate to finish the job and directly target the remaining hairs that are dominatly under and up against the nose...ouch!

The only Fructis Deep Fortifying Conditioner that I found is in a round jar and described as a 3-minute masque. Is that the stuff?

Yes, that is the correct product. We found it at CVS for about $7.99 - you can probably get it for a little less at Wal-Mart, but I haven't checked them out yet for price comparison.

Hi Girls:

Wal-Mart had the product coupled with the regular large bottle of shampoo. The total price was under $6.00 with this arrangement. My hair can be dry so I switched to their shampoo and conditioner (regular) and it does a nice job of keping my hair saturated. With this stuff I must shampoo everyday, after 24 hours I have oily looking hair but, it beats the dry frizzy look.

Find your own balance with these products.

The Gold Bond Ultimate skin lotion for dry skin works! I have been using it for 5 days now and it does keep the moisture in and softens the skin like Aveeno products. Johnson and Johnson products are more water /mineral oil based and are not as intensive in their effect on the skin. On the other hand, they blend well if you are in a hurry and right after the shower.

I think for the most part it is psychological vs. skin moisturization. It helps to drink 6 - 8 glasses of water everyday. Considering that our bodies are mostly water to begin with, nothing like replacing the lost fluids on a regular routine basis.

We are what we eat and drink for the most part. Alcohol, tea and coffee, even decaffinated, draws fluids out of your body. They do not replenish like plain water. Gator aide etc is okay but do not over do the salts replacement. You can become salt saturated and that can cause muscle aches and forced dehydration etc. Everything in moderation.

A final note: the Garnier product is a "mask" formulae, thus, the tighening effect. It washes off naturally later with the makeup. I am still working with this idea. Trying the Gold Bond Lotion at night to see what impact it has on my face. So far, things look better by using that product. Face is soft in morning and not dry. I like that result.

Last week Walgreen's had it on sale for $4.99, but Walmart had it for under $4.90 - my price range.

I think it feels nice, gives a positive result, and by golly, the price is right.

The price is going to vary with Wal-Mart's regional pricing system as would be the case with most National stores. Florida is sometimes higher in price with the population concentration that we have here. Happy that you find it working for you!

So... think for yourself girls! Sometimes, when something shows up in quantity among several product lines we follow like sheep, bah bah bah to the ka-ching ($$$) checkout counter. For go those expensive products that advertise the CoQ10 as part of their forumlary. Most likely they do not have the science to back up their claims and the FDA is looking the other way until they step over the line as someone eventually does.
