What shape for breast forms

Post by Colette »

Hi friends,

I have a pair of forms that I purchased off ebay a few months ago. I was so delighted when I got them. Well now that I have started to shop a little more (always in drab though), I have tried on more things and am seeing that because of my tall frame (6'3" and 220lbs) the size c forms look very small on me. I thought it would be good to be conservative when I bought them but i just don't think they are real helpful for my shape.

So now I may buy another pair. I have no need or means to buy anything more expensive than what I got on ebay and I think I can get another good deal there. What I am wondering about is shape. The current forms are teardrop shape but I see triangles as well all over the place and it seems like that is the primary product at the breastformstore. What do you all wear, especially those of you who have more experience? What are the advantages to each shape? I like to wear tanks and camisoles with built in shelf bras and I wonder if they would work better for that purpose with adhesive tape? Often the tear drop shap is too long but I also would think the teardrop shape would be better in terms of a natural shape

So what input do you all have?

Thanks,
Colette

I purchased a pair of triangle forms from thebreastformstore.com several years ago, and I've been very happy with them. My previous pair were more teardrop with a slight side extension, not really a triangle. More to the point, I'm 6'2" and 265 lb. and mine are size 10, which makes me about a 42D. With my shoulders, I never liked the smaller look. ;)

Colette, ah the age old question of what is the perfect breast. I believe it has been covered here before but here it goes. In general woman and breasts come in every size, and shape. Small, small. Small , large. Large, Large. And then throw in the medium, extra small, and extra large. Think of a combination and you will find a woman like that. But in general also the average breast size is a size b-c. That is if you are a "average" woman according to styles and wear a size 10-14. Now some of the exceptions or should I say variances. Tall and skinny women tend to be flat chested. And larger heavier woman tend to have larger fuller breasts than the "average".

So given your measurements, weight and build, yes a size C breast is on the small size. The best thing to do is to go to the mall and sit and watch people. Check out the women your size, build and weight and what they have for breasts.

As for shape. I have tear drop forms and I really like them. But per my wife I put my small enhancers along the side to fill them out as breast tissue is not just on the front of the chest in one spot, but also extends up the chest and around the side. And on older women hang down to the knees..... At least that is what I hear......LOL So I would say my tear drop forms with the enhancers on the sides is similar to a tear drop but I have no experience with them.

You say cost is an issue and I know for many it is. But going to a store with experience with TG' s or even those that deal with breast replacement forms for women are a great place to go. You will get to try on some options and see how they look on your body. Good luck and I am sure more will be chiming in.

Its very common (the most common mistake)for a large man to buy forms to small so they will blend in. They just don't have the side to side volume that looks natural. You end up with small torpedos on a wide chest, it doesn't look natural and draws alot of attention. You really do need a size 10 form, size 4 PALS etc,. look at women over 200lbs, look at their chest. D's and DD's is what your aiming at to fit in and blend in.

I like triangles and have Pals. that shape seems best for everday and they seem to work with most bra's.

Hi Girls:

Better late than never!

Breast physics 101.

First, they are more like a flexible jello than anything else. Silicone forms come closest to true physical emulation of movement in all positions. But, silicone forms, even high quality ones, deteriorate over time. They wrinkle. The outer skin is polyurethane. I have used forms from Glamour Boutique on the WEB. GL2000N.

This form has two tabs not one. One for the side and one for the top of the form to hug the skin naturally. The best form in my opinion, a number 10.

Now one must consider PALS. That super Gel component that is excellent in rigid flexibility, color (light pink caucasian), a form that does not lay down when you do. So, they point to the ceiling girlfriend. They are not physical friendly in that sense. I still use them on a regular basis.

I am 6', 148lbs, a small frame 38-28-35. Thin so I can wear most forms and they look good. I prefer a B-C look. I have a small PALS form that I use in an 36-A bra everyday when in drab blends well.

Balance, weight, consistency in material, PALS will give you that. The GL2000n (with a raised nipple), is a very nice silicone form that should last about 3 years before it wrinkles. 3 years of everyday use and it is done! It will split open. Simple! The urethane skin breaks down with so much contact with human skin acids. Washing routinely will help but not by much. I have gone through 2 pair in 8 years. My 3rd pair right now is about ready for the dumpster.

Hugs

I am really late for this post, but I was looking for a post such as this.

I bought a pair of silicon boobs from ebay a couple of years ago.
I am not happy with them. Not because there is anything wrong with the boobs, but because they are too big.

I bought them from "Natural-or-Not" based in Skipperville AL, USA.

I have "Transform" Super Perk Triangle, size 9. I am six foot, weigh 98kg which is about 205 lb in your money. I wore them initially in a 40D but found that too loose, so switched to a 38DD. This bra feels better. But the boobs are too big they overlap in the middle, I have heard of a cross your your heart bra, but not cross over boobs.

My previous pair were softer and had two wings, one to go under the arm, the other to follow the pec. I liked them till they split, now they are fit for the bin. They are too small for my current frame, however.
I need something in between.

I am looking at the Transform site at:
http://www.thebreastformstore.co.uk/tra ... forms.aspx

I cannot decide between the Gold Seal forms and the Classic forms.
Both are a good price, but I am not sure what the difference is.

As to size, well I think a 7 or 8. What do you think?

I would suggest simply calling the breastform store and talking to someone. They are the 'experts' and supposedly give good advice over the phone.

I have two pair of GL4000N found at the Glamour Boutique. one is a size 7 and the other a size 5. For me, I am 6' 175 lbs. Not too big or small. For the size 7 I use a 42b bra and a 40b for the small forms. I can easily get by with either, they both fit my frame nicely.

I've had the larger for about 6 months and just recently purchased the smaller ones. One day, when the size 7's deteriorate I will go to a size 9, just for kicks!

The quality is excellent and the nipples stand out in some of the bras I have, not much, but noticeable. I like that.

Hi Girls:

The trick to size is more about what you are comfortable with. Bra manufacturers have several variables in their designs. That is one reason that so many girls forget about. One type does not fit all.

Find the bra that YOU want to wear. Make sure of the proper latitude in the chest measurement. I can wear 36, 38 or 40 bras by adjusting the hooks. On the other hand, there are some 36 bras that are made to short in circumference. So even on the fist hook (maximum stretch) they are too tight.

I also found that a manufacturer's bra model will vary depending on where it is made. Two bras, exactly the same from different countries and one was a better fit than the other. So there too are variations that one would not expect. A 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, A, B, C, D, is only a reference nomenclature. You have too try it on for your frame and the manufacturer's style and fit.

The breast form then can be determined by the cup design of the bra. If I wear a low priced full cup cotton bra, I need a form that is fuller than if I wear a lined, 3/4 bra etc.

That is why women often will try on such garments before buying. With a fixed "breast" shape, that just need to take into account the bra type. They do not plan on changing their natural breast shape so it is a matter of fitting the bra to the existing form.

With the "breast form," we now have an additional variable that varies with each manufacturer. There are no set standards for density, color or fullness. Also, some forms are flat backed and others have been scooped out to accomodate existing breast tissue. The GL2000N from Glamour Boutique is scooped out slightly. The "Super Gel" forms are flat backed. Because they are a solid gel, they claim you can "cut out some of the gel to get the scoop that you want.

I have worn both now for some time. The silicone types wear about 3 years before serious wrinkles show up. They typically are darker in tone while the Super Gel is a really good light, light pink for caucasian applications. For woman of color, they have the appropriate form color and there are a few that have different shades to address the variety that is found in that social grouping.

Lastly, the size number can be elusive. I was advised at the time that a number 10, would better fit a B-C cup bra that is full cupped and lined. This is true. The GL2000N (10) does a nice job of fulfilling that task. If you wish for a smaller look, try size 8. If you want the form entirely inside the cup.

Always ask for a number that is 1 or two higher than recommended so that you can vary things with the bra type. See my photo album and for the most part I have a size 10 - GL2000N pair in place. My more recent pictures this past 2 months I am using a number 4 Super Gel form. The weight and distribution is similar. Headlights on!

Hugs

Hi,

This bra size and form size thing is a minefield.
Its a trade off against vanity and practicality. I have found since corresponding with the Breast Form Store that my band size is too small.

They reckon I need a size 42 bra. But I have been a 38B for years, said the little voice in my head. Yep and when I was a 38B I took a UK size 16 dress too. Well that was a long time ago, and age with a sedentiary lifestyle comes with some extra baggage.

Now I take a UK size 22 dress, yet my vanity wont let me move away from a 38 bra.

Yup I am semi active again. After months of self denial, I spoke to my wife about being unable to keep my urges in the can any longer. It was making me ill. So I can dress again, albeit when my youngest, only kid at home is out of the house. He's 25 and knows, but my other half does not like me being dressed when he is around.

Anyway I digress, I have compromised. I am wearing my size 9 forms in a size 40E bra I found in my drawer. They are quite comfy. I have a smock top on as well. So nothing is feeling tight.
Hey I dont feel sexy, but then I am 55, I cant pretend to be a teenage sex bomb all my life. But I am comfy.

Now I am wondering if I need a new pair of breast forms after all. The B cups are in the bin after all those years.

I still have $200 saved up. What could I buy instead?

Hi Girls:

Hold your horse girlfriend! I recently was contacted by a DJ in South Florida that had seen my picture on "MySpace" and said I was gorgeous! I am 59...he is a very svelte 42.

I told him that I was not available of course. It is in my "bio" on MySpace, plain as day. But, he was nice enough to reiterate that I look great!

In is handsome photo he was holding a cane with a "white tip," what does that mean?

Okay so, you take a seamstress measuring tape and wrap it around your chest where the bra band is going to be. I measure about 37.5" so I am a 36-38 range. Quality bras will work in both sizes for me. Take your number and try bras down and up one size from the number, finding the most comfortable fit.

Breathing should not be a chore! It should feel snug night tight. The best fit is when you do not notice it for the most part. It just becomes part of you.

Some women that are 40, 42, etc do not always have large breasts. There are many factors that effect the adult result. I have seen women profoundly overweight, (high BMI), and still have small breasts. Then too, I have seen quiet the opposite in extreme.

So you are lucky! You can control the final result. Look at some other women your size and decide on what YOU want to look like. No surgery needed, you can pick a look that suits YOU.

Consider what it is YOU are trying to do. Everyone has a different idea of comfort and appearance. I have (3) levels actually. 36-A, 38 B-C-D, and I have the forms to fit accordingly from "Super Gel" products. Google them and look at their product line. Price is really good for a solid Gel product that should last 5+ years.

If you are going to wear a fine evening gown then you will want the form that has a tab so you can use it for best fit. Silicone forms make the best body fit for that type of dress. You can wear a bra that lifts them (balcony bra), and then create cleavage with makeup to blend with your skin.

Super Gel products accept makeup really well and they are very light in color to start with. It is easy to make them look like your own with little knowledge or effort. Just the right makeup is essential.

Thank you for all your advice.
I will try to take heed of what you say.
I did correspond with the BreastFormStore advisor, but I dont agree that the advice is correct for me.

When I was asked to measure below the breast, for the band size I responded I was 41". They replied and saying I need a 44" band.

I dont think thats right, but I will check. I have found a book which advises about correct fit. I will work through their process and see if the result is similar to the BFS.

I will report back later.......

Hi Girls:

For those reading this thread, I have found some articles and catalogs suggesting that a person add 5" to the number they get when measuring for the band around the chest area.

All of this info is about placing the cups in a proper geometry with respect to "natural breasts" and (gg) female physiology. Since we are talking about (breast forms), and an alternate physiology (with flexibility), then we should consider this in our application.

I have used with much success a bra that has a full coverage pocket in which to put the form. I found that if I use a silicone form that is larger than the bra pocket that I will get cleavage from the forms, while if properly matched in size with the bra, it all fits well.

If I have too large a cup they swallow the form, and if to small a cup, the forms are hard to secure and too much is pushed out. Silicone forms fit this type of bra best since they are the most flexible, like real breasts "almost." My Super Gel forms are better suited to regular bras without the pocket or if with the pocket, I do not try to insert them into the pocket area which puts the gel product against my skin either way.

They do not breath! You will build up some moisture under them if directly against the skin. You can use a nice deodorant on the skin first, then a little baby powder on the form before putting into place. Reduces friction, deodorant shuts down sweat glands for a time so no moisture build-up during normal activities in an air conditioned (low humidity) environment.

The breast forms are always being pulled downward by the nature of gravity for lack of a better scientific explanation in this thread. So good straps are a must. Else, you will look like Auntie Mame before long as the straps quickly wear out and lose their ability to pull upward the breast forms or resist the downward pull from natural gravity or it's resulting condition....(boobs on the floor)! In the natural way for a (gg) woman, the strap is a support for the chest band. Properly worn, stress is applied equally over the strap to chest band. No sore shoulders, no Auntie Mame look and no breasts flopping free..oops! It is a package deal in physics.

Sorry girls, but "Classical Physics", is rather relevant here. Straps resist the downward motion by being pulled upward, gravity casues a downward pull and so it is a game of cat and mouse. Ask any "gifted (gg) woman" about her struggles with bra stability and strap vs. band wear.

"Human Anatomy and Physiology" basics coupled with "Classical Physics." They clash every time humans try to rearrange things.

My definition may not pass muster with people in physics class but, for the most part, everything is trying to get back down to earth after we elevate it up except for certain gases which are lighter than air,   ...

Good heavens girls, I am trapped in my own jargon!

What I have found as a lot of us already know, different manufacturers equal different sizes, a Bali 42 may not equal an Olga 42 or other non-wire and wired or full coverage vs. VS style. The construction material can vary greatly as well and the two, three or four hook, or front hook vs. rear hook, longline vs. see-through, etc., etc,.

What my advice would be is to go to an upscale store, Macy's or even J.C. Penny or Neiman-Marcus, whatever. Pick out several styles (I would suggest that you at least know your band size = chest measurement) with various cup sizes, i.e., 38 band with B or C or D or DD beyond DD you're on your own! Picking out various band sizes and cups will raise suspicion, but if you are OK with that then go for it!

Make them tell you what their return policy is and if it is acceptable, take them all home and try them with various outfits. You may find, like I do, that some of my outfits will carry-off a "D" and in others I look much better in a "B" or "C."

If you are not going to go out then just go for it!!! If you like an "FF" be a Nike, "Just do it!" However, when going out in public, well, if your breasts get there two minutes before you do - you will have to look on your back because there is a big bullseye right there!!!!!! You will get a lot more attention of the wrong type than you will probably want to deal with.

Love,

Virginia
