I'm glad you didn't respond verbally. Looks can be deceiving. Some have permanently etched looks on their face which fail to give a clue to what they are really feeling.BrandyB wrote:I was in the pet food aisle and this woman (if you could call her that" was selecting a bag of cat food next to me and she obviously looked at my feet, OPI "Romeo and Joliet" nail polished toenails, knee-hi's and all and goes "Cute" and gives me a look of disgust.
Just "up and went out"!

Thanks Donna...Yeah, what would be the point? It still floors me that in this day and age people who are strangers to you will outright disparage you because of some way you look to them...if you say that and think about it, it sounds completely absurd, but sadly it goes on everday, everywhere.
However, negativity just reaffirms my belief in myself...if ya don't like what ya see, look the other way!!
For years I was afraid to wear make-up or traditionally female garb or painted toenails in public, what if someone insults me? How will I feel? As long as you don't care, that you are secure with you...you will be fine.

Hahaha! I'm not sure if he really "noticed". We just happened to be pulling out of the garage at the same time. They're really nice people who also are the only ones (that we know of) that really *don't* engage in the typical neighborhood gossip. So if something WAS seen, I don't think it would be spread around. And chances are, I wasn't noticed anyways, other than the fact that I went the other direction than I usually do when leaving the house.Davita wrote:Uh oh. Another tall lady loose in the streets. So I'm wondering if the neighbor is wondering. Did you make eye contact? Now that you escaped the walls of the house, does it matter who in the neighborhood knows if they aren't talking about it and everything is still status quo with them?
I don't know how many of my neighbors that wave actually know who they are waving to. I just wave back without too much worry and continue on my way.
Congrats for the escape. Hope all the others are as fun and interesting.

Disparaging strangers in public is never good manners. But we also never know what's really going on. When someone cuts me off on the road I don't know that they aren't on the way to the hospital to identify a corpse or something similar. Likewise maybe this lady was just obnoxious. Or maybe her husband just came out to her and followed it up with news of an affair, or maybe he just put a run in her best pair of stockings.
