I don't remember the first I read about. I remember the first transexual I met, or at least knew that they were TS. This was before I read about anyone.

Her name was Tara and she was post op MTF. However her gender identity was the least of her problems. She was also paranoid schizophrenic and a heroin addict. She never dealt successfully with these issues and died some years later on a park bench after being kicked out of the homeless shelter.

I always enjoyed her. She'd ask me for money, and instead of concoting a lie, would just say " I'm jonesing like a motherfucker. Can you help me out?" I figured a little spare cash kept her from robbing tricks or little old ladies.

We never did talk much about her gender stuff. When we did chat, on the occasions that she was sober, we talked about our common problems.

I remember her obituary. It said friends may call at.... I wondered if anyone came.
