Julia,
Read my previous posting, and take courage, & go get them done, you will be sooo happy when you have your earrings in.

It will be two weeks this Wednesday since I got mine, and it has been a total non-event. No one really seems to care. I have actually been disapointed that no one has said a anything about them, not even my family. Wish I would have done a long time ago, of course it never crossed my mind that it was ok to do it, it was like forbidden fruit. Foolish me!

I'm a lawyer and when my wife said I could get them pierced I did. I took some grief for a while, but it passed. It was worth it. I love having my ears pierced!!!!

Well, I am the contrarian, I guess, huh? I came onto this veil of tears with just so many holes in my body and I guess I will check out with neither more nor less (well, unless some irate husband comes home too early) - yes I know it's an old joke - Honey, it is a joke!!!!!
I guess I will stick with the clip-ons and they do make adapters for those really sexy pierced earrings that we all admire.
Virginia
PS: Anyone know a good attorney if I change my mind and they accidentally cut my ear off?!?

I asked my wife about my getting my ears pierced just yesterday. She didn't like the idea much, but eventually ( and I didn't prod at all ) she said how about one, and if she gets used to it, then get the other.
One day when we are at the mall I'm going to say somethign to her. If I am lucky, maybe she will let me get them both done. I'll let you know!

Just an update --
its been just over 5 weeks. I have left the left earring in continuously until today, and it is healed and fine.
The right one has been in and out some when I have to work outside the home, so it has not completely healed....when out for more than a day, it tens to start to seal..but no infections or issues.
More importantly...going out to a play on Wed and dressing for a night out....first time with cool pierced earrings. Tried some today that I plan on wearing...until we went shopping tonight and Stormy bought me even cooler dangling ones!
Glad I did it. Very few comments. A couple from guys i have worked with closely for last few years...but all in good fun. Those who don't know me don't give it a second glance.
All in all, was and is very good!

I'm glad that your ears are healing so well, Melyssa Anne. I just love to wear dangly earrings, but I try not to buy any that are on the heavy side. Those will tend to tear the holes, so do be careful.
I'd love it if Virginia decided to get her ears pierced, as we'll be able to share our love of dangly earrings, too. We've already agreed that who ever grabs the skirt, slacks, jewelry or other accessory first gets to use it - adding pierced earrings to the mix will just add to our love of sharing and enjoying each other. With as many pierced earrings as I already have, I know we'll have more than enough to choose from, and have fun doing so - but that doesn't mean we can't buy more!
Now if only Virginia will agree to finally get her ears pierced!!

Is is not okay to have both ears pierced?Melyssa Anne wrote:The right one has been in and out some when I have to work outside the home,

I am 51 and my wife says I can get one pierced for now and possibly the other later once she gets used to it. I am hoping she will change her mind when it actually comes time for me to have it done. Should I expect problems? She seems to think if I get both done, it will mean I am gay. I thought otherwise, but am I wrong?
I also thought about asking one of the girls I trust at work, what she thought coworkers would think. I don't have to tell her anything about my dressing but just ask for her opinion on the piercing.
I work in a very consertative environment.

Men having both ears pierced is very common. Catch the actors (oscars) or sports figures on television and she'll see.
Or Howie Mandel on Deal or No Deal

Also, the cost of getting them pierced is the same for one ear as it is for two, usually, so paying a two earring price for one earring is wastefull.

I see, I haven't been her for such a long time...
Anyway, last Saturday I was out with my kids and we all have pierced the ears. Of course, dad has to show, that it does not hurt too much...
No, my spouse really encouraged me, to get my ears pierced and we agreed, that we will do it, when my kids are around - then they can decide to do it too... And they did.
It is hard to wait until it is healed enough and I can start exploring the variety of ear decoration... lol...
So far, no one in the office or who I meet while travelling from and to the office have made any remarks... maybe they did not even got aware of it...
Kisses, Jabbela
