I bought a pair of fem jeans, 2 thongs, and a pair of pink cotton bikins from Goodwill today.

I took my mother to Duke Medical in NC last Thursday for surgery. 5 hour drive to her house and then a 5 hour drive to Duke.

Recovery took longer than expected, so I ran out of clean shirts and decided to explore the area, as I have a GPS in the car and it can locate many shops.

I first went to a super Target, and picked up a couple of guy shirts and a couple of ladies tank tops for my morning walks/workouts. Afterwards I went to a nearby mall and picked up another guy shirt at the Sears store.

I then decided to try a Wal-mart, for new panties, as none of the others had any microfiber ones I like, but when I got there the store was no longer there.

However, a Burlington Coat Factory was, so I decided to check them out. I found two white gypsy skirts I loved, and debated getting them. I've been after a white gypsy skirt for several years.

I made a vow last year to not buy any until I had lost a significant amount of weight.

I figured that since I've lost 48 lbs since then, that was significant enough.

So then I had to choose between the two skirts. One was ankle length and the other came to just below the knees. Since one was $10 and the other $5, I made the obvious choice and got both.

Took my mother home to WV Tuesday evening, and made it back home yesterday. She's doing well.

I was in CVS pharmacy around noon today and came across a nail polish I thought I'd give a try.

Borghese - B285 Dolce Vita Fuchsia F

I'm sitting here in my office and just applied some Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails as a base coat to my toe nails, and will apply the new polish shortly.

UPDATE: Lovely color. The applicator brush is a bit too thick. Didn't go on very well over the base, so it took two coats to look decent.

I went looking for an nice pair of slacks to go with the new shoes and found them at Miller's (where I buy most of my gear at reasonable prices). The shop assistant said is "she" in the fitting room and I said no these are for me, and tried them on & went down a size, all I need now is to pick a couple of nice blouses (Here happy hunting)

While I have worn Skirts, blouses and dresses at home for a very long while it wasn't until recently I really got into shoes. for about 3 weeks now I have been wearing heals every night for practice and am so comfortable in them now : )

But last week I saw on E-bak a wonderfull new San marina black pump with a 4" heal starting at $9.99 free shipping and won it!

Just got it 3 days ago and learned a painfull lesson: walking in a 4 inch heal is nothing like walking in a 2 1/2" heal

Ohh well practice practice practice...

I went nuts awhile back, when I ran into a very nice lady “Linda” having a garage sale of items that her mother-in-law “Marjorie” had purchased. It seems Marjorie suffers from a serious mental condition that involves compulsive purchasing of clothing to make her feel better. This is really not at all funny. The clothing piles up in Marjorie’s home to the point that the fire marshal threatens to evict her. Linda literally has to remove items and hope Marjorie doesn’t notice. Well, the items at the garage sale were mostly new, with tags, and were priced at $3 each. Some were used at $2, and some had stains (which were free for the taking, and I’ve removed most of the stains). Marjorie has good taste in clothing, and she often buys my size! I’ve unloaded 81 items from Linda so far, and sad for Linda, Marjorie is still buying more, since Marjorie has excellent retirement benefits and can afford to do so. There will be another sale again this summer. I can’t wait, and neither can my wife!

This week the Goodwill is having a “30% off all clothing” sale. Since being laid off I haven’t felt that I could afford the Goodwill, but today I’m wearing a very professional pinstripe little black dress, that was $5.60. I also snatched-up a polyester midnight blue pullover shell for $2.80. Yesterday I rescued a blue denim skirt with embroidered red roses and white lace at the hem, and a gorgeous red satin half-sleeve blouse for $8 total. The day before, I found a long woven rayon circle skirt and a pretty green flowered print blouse for about the same.

I didn't buy it, but I got a long black skirt from a lady who was offering it on a local "freecycle" website. I told her it was for my daughter. It fit perfectly. She said if she finds anymore clothes in that size she will let me know.

I'm playing a little catch-up, I bought at 2 different thrift stores on Monday:

2 pullover sweaters with embroidery (1 with store tags still attached), a light blue floral print jacket dress, and a red silk skirt suit, all for $4 US.

At the 2nd thrift store, I spent a bit more for a dark red floral print skirt suit, and 2 dresses with the store tags, including a Liz Claiborne. They all cost US $7.50.

Not a bad haul for under $12 total.

I've been working up my nerve to shop once again. I've entered several stores as well a Goodwill with every intention of rebuilding my stash. Each time I've chickened out.

After my last failed attempt I swore that by this past Saturday (yesterday)I would get started. My plan was the local flea market and was successful in buying 3 bras,red,white and black. The SA was oriental and having spent many years in the far east I was comfortable with her. However I didn't finish my mission.I couldn't get the nerve up to purchase the items I needed. So after thinking it over and rationalizing that Halloween is next week I could always cop that excuse if needed also, at flea markets they want to make a sale so I didn't expect any problems. Today I returned and entered a botique that was fairly sheltered from outside and purchased a tan blouse and slacks set also a black skirt and blouse. One she showed me had short sleeves and I said I needed long sleeeves because of my hairy arms. That got a smile.

As I was checking out I asked if she any problem with men making purchases and she said no but that the owner was selling out do to poor health. I'll be sorry to see the store go. On the way out I saw a belt with conchos that would look good with the black skirt and added it to my acquisitions. That pretty much finished out my starter stash and I don't think I'll have any more problems adding to my wardrobe. Now I just need some time for Wendae.

On a roll now that I got started. Bought a purse at Goodwill, a full slip at Sears and a camisole at JCPenny today. Wonder when I'll get to try this stuff on? Opertunities do not come often.

Stopped by the Goodwill today. Found a Shadowline full slip and a vintage Vanity Fair full slip. Also a black lace cami and a pair of femme Lee jeans.

yesterday, a new bag from J.C. Penny's, a Rossetti in black, with an umbrella, and 30% off (from 57.00 to 37.50). A new pair of warm house slippers for the winter ($26) , and some Cuddle Duds for my mother ($34).

I looked at a pair of boots that called to me from the Cold Water Creek store window (you know, "hey chick, come try me on" --$120 though) and a couple of nice warm pullover tops, one in oatmeal and one in blue/oatmeal/black that actually looked pretty good. May have to go back for those. The sweaters were $56, so really need to wait for a sale.

However, I need to replace my two year old winter wardrobe, so may have to put off some other things for those. Felt very comfortable. I can usually find nice things that appeal to me at Cold Water Creek stores, and in their catalogs too. My winter style is warm cuddly clothes, and I seem to only find those in stores that are kinda outdoorsy or country.
