I wanted to join in here.
I have been wearing a full beard for most of my adult/civilian life.
At the moment, I am comfortable dressing up and still having the beard on, sorta my way of accepting the crossdressing desire as part of who I am.
I do shave it off every now-and-then, usually with scissors, electric razor and disposable razor. The last time I did this, I actually tried to keep it off for a couple of weeks.
I feel lazy and I like to just let the beard grow.
I've been debating on shaving soon...(it's usually been 3yrs or so between shaves) mainly because I'm more open about my crossdressing. I believe I could now shave and really "do myself up" and enjoy it!
I'm interested in the laser removal, especially around my lips where I really don't like to scrape a sharp piece of steel across my skin.
Thanks for all the updates on the Laser Hair Removal, and makeup ideas!

Hi Allen,
I think there a few others here who do dress, but don't shave.
You're welcome for the updates.

Let us know when you shave again!
What's the longest you've gone without keeping a beard? It's hard to keep shaving all the time.
It's one of the reasons I decided to finally just get laser. I hated my facial hair anyway.
I go tonight for treatment #6.
I'm more excited this time because I purchased a new topical creme so I'm not worried about the tiny zaps!

So I was able to go without shaving for 3 weeks. I have a few hairs that are showing. I can count them, that's how few there are.

Beauty,
Is it too soon for a report about treatment #6?
I was wondering, is the person who does your treatments certified, or carry a license for this?
I'm just wondering how a person would go "shopping" for Laser treatments in their own area.
The longest period in my adult (by age not maturity level
) life, that I've been without a beard had to have been in the Army.
After that...hmmm...I kept shaving sometime after the military, but I eventually went fulltime beard in my mid-20's and since then I'd venture to guess maybe two weeks has been my longest shaved period.
At first my wife and daughter (when she was old enough to care), wanted the beard back.
I suspect that besides liking the bearded look, my wife also didn't like all the comments from other women about how good I looked without the beard and how YOUNG I looked (she's 5 yrs. older than me).
It's hard to imagine my feminine look with a beard on, so it's probably coming off in the not-so-distant future.
Whenever I used to dressup, in the days when I was ashamed of it, I hated to see my reflection. I'd see this sad looking, bad looking, clownish me staring back hating myself.
But now that I have welcomed this part of me (the crossdressing, not the shaving
), I find that dressedup, I can admire myself in the mirror even with a full beard. I am no longer trying to "Be" a woman, just being myself while enjoying women's clothing.
To get back to the topic...
What do you all do about other facial hair, meaning...nasal, ear, eyebrow, etc.? I'm thinking of gradually plucking my eyebrows to make them less bushy over time. I figure if I do it gradually, I'll keep under the radar for now.

Allen just so you know I am one of those cross dressers that do not shave. Well that is not completely true. I shave around my goatee. Though not very often as I am blessed with facial hair that does not grow very fast. The most I ever need to shave in a week is twice. other times it is not long enough to worry about.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons. As you are crunchy and good with chocolate!

Hi Jadeanne,
During my 20s I sported a goatee. Oddly enough, I had shaved it off about a year before I started dressing in public, and I haven't looked back since.
I will admit that during the workweek I don't shave at all. I limit my shaving to the weekends when I dress. (I figure, the less frequently I shave, the less irritation I'll have) By Friday afternoon, I'm pretty hairy! By Friday eveing, I am smooth once again...
I like to use the Gilette Mach 3 razor. It shaves me real close, and my face is totally razor-bump free!

Hi all,
Beauty,
I think it's great that you moved your laser hair removal experiences here from CDDF. I don't see myself going for it at least now, but I'm never going to say never.
I will qualify for retirement in just a couple of years and don't feel like spending a lot for it. I also still like the idea that if the crossdressing desire for some reason goes away and I want to regrow the goatee/mustache, I will be able to. I like to keep my options open - that's what works for me.
Lorna,
I generally shave every morning with my Norelco Advantage wet/dry shaver that dispenses the "goo" - either Nivea lotion or gel. I'm cheap and have used the Target house brand gel for sensitive skin instead. I follow the shaving with a gentle rinse, patting gently dry with a towel, then moisturiser (currently generic olay spf 15 for my light skin).
I'm glad we have this great forum to post on - thank you Shannon, Sharon (SO), moderators Beauty and Lefty

I found this and had something to ask in the wake of using a new type of razer on my face. No matter what I use an electric or razer for some reason it still looks as though I have facual hair afterwards though the skin feels smooth. What is wrond with me? And oh yea how to shave under your noise with out getting tons of cuts or is that me too?

I hate to be a no it all but I still need help with this. I have for amny years had a beard and as of last april began shaving it all off but even after I shave it still looks as though I have not shaved. Or at least not in certain areas including that area between the noise and lips. That is an area I am constantly cutting my self.

I shave once every 3 days. I got that dark and really thick hair (not hair count, but hair diameter!) on the face. So even after I shave, I STILL have a 5 o'clock shadow. The only problem is it's moderate in hair count, grows quickly, and is practically non-existant on the cheeks.
In short, I can only grow a moustache and goatee. 8-/ Looks good on me, but it's a PITA to shave off without destroying a razor (or my skin).
Anyways, dunno what posessed me to ramble bout it. One of these days when I have time and money, I wanna first get rid of the cheek and under the chin hair, and shape the rest. I may go for total removal. I'm tired of it. It's a PITA to shave it off, and even when shaved it looks like I haven't shaved in a day. The last 7 years I've let it grow, and shaved it off many many times. I like it better without it. No itching. No VERY curly whiskers jabing me. No food stuck in it eating. Permanent removal probably....
ok, rambling session over! Back to your regular schedule of more important stuff.
