I DON'T like Ike
Sigh, just paraphrasing an old slogan. Hurricane Ike is about to visit here...somewhere. My GF says Fla looks like a pinball flipper which so far has kicked the storms away, but when I played pinball....I always missed one. Too early to tell where it will hit, but the Keys are being evacuated this weekend. I'm ready..got extra dog food, propane, beer, gas, generator, beer, storm shutters etc. Oh, and did I mention beer? Wish everyone the best, especially in the islands who have been clobbered.

Hi DeeDee,
We are on the west side of the state, and the projected path sure includes us. We've been dodging bullets here for a long time, but I don't like the looks of Ike.
Be prepared (Boy Scout Motto)
Hugs,
Lydia

Hi, DeeDee and Lydia -
Hurricanes (and the dreaded Love Bugs) are the only things that I don't miss by no longer living in The Sunshine State. Although I was also on the Gulf Coast, in Zephyrhills, we would occasionally catch the backside of a storm, luckily they were Cat 1's or Tropical Storms by the time they reached us.
Are you sure you have enough beer to ride out the storm?!? One can never have too much!!
((Hugs))

I feel for you Hon.
Hi DeeDee
You ladies down south have been hammered this year. One hurricane after another. If it's any consolation Hon we Connecticut people greatly appreciate you're sacrifice.
Every storm starts out down south like gangbusters and then tries to get up here to New England. I know living in Florida and the Gulf coast has it's advantages. The water is always warm and inviting but also a breeding ground for hurricanes.
When they get to Long Island sound where barges dump all the trash from New York city they wither and die. If they're crazy enough to make a play for Maine they're doomed. Me and the monkeys met my sister Christine this summer who lives Palmyra Maine and drove down to Ogunguit which is 4 hours south of where she lives. We go to the beach and she says" The water is like a bathtub."DeeDee! It was 62 degrees! I jumped in and turned blue.
I have to run. Wolf Blitzer from CNN just called and wants me to post a rebuttal on MySpace of the Democratic and Republican conventions from an independant womans point of view.
One heads up for the two parties.Democrats. Go easy on the goofy hats. Countries around the world will get the wrong idea. And for you Republicans, never and I mean never try to dance to Cool and the Gang. It was frightening. I do feel for sorry for the rhymically challenged. Hugs.

Ike doesn't sound good. We're about to get the edge of Hanna which shouldn't be too bad although it seems to have really clobbered Haiti a couple of days ago. As if enough bad things don't happen to that poor island. Lets hope Ike and Joesephine both stay out to sea.

Landfall for Hanna is about an hour away, and some 300 miles or so south in SC, but we're already seeing some rain and wind effects here in Hampton Roads. My brother, the amateur meteorologist, is more worried about Ike. It could break up over the islands, or it could churn around a bit, pick up strength and plow on through. I'm not that worried, but it's been ten years or more since I had to weather one of these.

Sounds like Hanna was just a soggy mess...and a waste of a weekend day. Stores are packed here, but Ike seems to taking a more southern course....but might not be good for New Orleans (again). And Lydia, some models show it going up the west coast, which puts you on the bad side of the storm. BTW, loved your post about the neighbors, but....ummm....you don't have purple hair now??? Jeannie, you maniac, theres something about your new makeup that seems a bit odd...not sure what, but are you running for a political position now? Fits right in if you wear giant floppy shoes also
Well, if Ike misses me, gotta figure out what to do with all this beer.......maybe should get on that problem right now
Hugs all

A little rain today
Hi DeeDee
It's brutal here today in Connecticut. 98 percent humidity and it's drizzling out. My hair looks like the bride of Frankenstein and my dainties got wet on the clothes line.
As for my avatar picture Hon,is this better smarty panties. Z also does great makeup and is a hairdresser also. I love freebies! I have to get my umbrella and grill some chicken breasts. Enjoy your beers DeeDee while on the couch in your Bud Light Boxers and wife beater watching the game. Go Gators! Hugs Beautiful.

I've been through the "dog days of summer" in NJ, so I know that weather. Open the door and its like someone hit you with a baseball bat. Weather is beautiful here and going to a pool party shortly. And love your new avatar...now I won't have nightmares about "Killer Klowns from Outer Space". Ok..still enough gov't clowns to scare me. And NO WAY I would wear wife beaters or those shorts!!!!! GF would spank me (promises promises). She keeps threatening me that she'll teach me to cook.....but microwave hotdogs are it for me. Oh and BBQ stuff....easy stuff. My dogs hate me 'cause theres no leftovers. Be safe up there and lock your doors! SL and Virginia wander around a lot!
Hugs

Yes it's a tad humid in the Northeast today. I left an empty glass out on the table and in a couple of hours the condensation, fog, and dew had filled it to the top. That's six inches of falling humidity. Even in the Pacific Northwest they might think this was weather.
It was actually sort of raining inside the house. The air was so humid that the floor was covered in condensation as if we had just moped it.
