The Blue Star

Post by Carolynn »

King Ozymadus was a typical big king in a little pond. In search of expanding his kingdom and over-estimating the power of his armies, he started a disasterous war with the Hittites. It was going badly, and he needed quick cash to buy weapons and mercenaries if he was to have a chance of winning. He had only one thing of great value, the Blue Star of the Palms, a fabulous diamond that rivaled and exceeded any other for it's size, purity and sheer beauty.

Being in dire need, he set out for the palace of Creosus, the Pawn Broker. He approached Creosus, and after the necessary greeting and sharing of food and drink, Ozymandus broached the subject of his visit.

Creosus, thought for a moment, then nodded his head and told the king he could lend him 100,000 dinars for the Star.

The King was taken aback, and protested that the Star had cost millions. He drew himself to his imposing height and reminded Cresosus that he was the king, after all.

"Ah yes, so true your majesty", said Creosus, "But when you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are." #-o

Jiminy Crickets, Carolynn, we can't have that kind of joke happening around here!

Next thing you know, we'll have our "S-car go" going to "Sam Clam's disco."
And we couldn't do that, now, could we?
