I hope you enjoy this story...

Hi!

This happened to me one day this past week and I hope you enjoy the story. It amused me so I thought I would share it.

I had some serious questions about what size bra I should be wearing so I went to be fitted by a professional. She put me in a 38 D but when I went to buy breast forms the store clerk thought the bra was too small. She brought in a couple bras and kept going up in size until I was wearing a 44 D. This dramatically increased the size of the form required to fill out the cup but I digress from the original intent of this post. (By the way, after I bought the forms I made arrangements to go back to the Lingerie store to be fitted with the forms.)

I was anxious to get a bra that really fit me well but my appointment to go to the lingerie shop wasn't until Thursday. Here it was only Tuesday night. What was I supposed to do?

I decided to stop by a local department store that I know fits bras. I strolled right up to the counter and the sales person (female obviously) asked if she could help me. I responded that perhaps she could... I would like to be fitted for a bra. She looked at me with a look of astonishment and stated she had never done that before. She asked the other sales person to help me. The other sales person, a more mature woman, grabbed her tape measure and off we went to a room. I took off my coat and shirt and she measured me. She left me to dress again and said she would show me where I could find the bras in my size.

While I was dressing, I noticed that I was still wearing my security badge from work. I work for the Department of Defense and we all have badges with our name and picture on them. It must have been amusing for this woman to see a man who works for the Department of Defense asking to be fitted for a bra.

I hope you enjoyed my story.

Later,

Brianna

That was great. I got a kick out of it. I hope that you bought a few cool styles. You sure left them with a funny story to tell people.

That's great Brianna, one thing for sure we are gaining acceptance. The girl that directed you to the other sales lady, will now have a better understanding and the next CD'er that walks in will not surprise her.
Congrats!

Hi! Thank you for your comments. I appreciate them. I hoped you would enjoy my story. For some reason I find a lot about myself to be amused about. Does anybody else?

What did I do after I noticed that I was wearing my security badge? I just put it in my pocket and acted like I was just any other woman shopping for a bra. She had the courtesy, kindness, or tact, not to say "Oh my gosh! You work for the Department of Defense?" She acted as if she had not seen it although it was in plain view.

I sincerely hope that the first sales person just sees another potential customer when a "man" approaches her to ask for assistance. She hopefully will understand that it's a great compliment to her when someone approaches her with honesty. I don't think of myself as a particularly courageous person but it does take some courage to put yourself out there like that. I had no idea what reaction I would receive. Confiding in her was like saying... "Hey! I'm trusting you to treat me with kindness and understanding. Not because I am different. Not because I deserve it. But because I'm a human being just like you."

I have to say that I have been treated very well by the ladies who have assisted me. Of course, I am always very courteous and kind to them. I also understand if they do not feel comfortable helping me. That's one reason if I am asking for some service that is normally female only, (like being fitted for a bra,) I let them know up front that I am a crossdresser. If they are uncomfortable with the situation they can find someone who isn't to assist me.

Of course, sometimes the topic doesn't come up. For instance, I went to Lord and Taylor and was browsing in the lingerie section. The sales person asked if I needed some assistance. I simply asked where I could find the size bra I was looking for and she helped me locate it. She didn't ask but I believe she knew it was for me. If I had been asking for a size 34 B she would have assumed it was not but the size I asked for was definitely for either a larger woman or a crossdresser.

On a personal note I would like to say... "Beauty, I am very happy that you are still with us."

I will continue to post my experiences as I venture out into the world...

Take care!

Brianna
