One of Dr. Who's companions has passed on. Elezabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smity), 63, died from a long bout with cancer. I guess so long as there are reruns, her talent at least lives on.

With the reinvigorated (post 2005) Dr Who, all sorts of spin-offs occurred and she got (I think) a series of her own. So her character was in the public eye (again). It definitely makes me feel sad, to hear of her passing - I used to watch Dr Who regularly.

The Sarah Jane mysteries has been a great success here in the UK, and Elesabeth Sladden has appeared in quite a few recent Dr Who's, these appearances made a number of of us of a "certain age" very happy. She will be sorely missed by many.
