Stopping notification emails - Answered

Post by Anita »

Hi--
I recently changed my profile to stop the email notification of replies, as I'm on the forum each day anyway. I kept the private message notification.

The emails are still coming, even though the profile page did change to "no." I tried changing it at least once more. It stayed changed once again, but the emails continue to come. What do I need to do now?

Hi Anita

I have checked your profile and as you say you have unchecked the notifications. I do not know why you are still getting them. I hope when we eventually upgrade phpBB "features" like this will disappear.

Sorry I cannot help you further.
Susan

I know some things.

Hi, Anita -

The reason you are still receiving email notifications is very simple, hon . . . the changes you made to your settings only affect your notifications from that time forward.

You will still receive notifications from every topic to which you previously posted - and/or were set to receive response notifications - for every new post made . . . that is, until you go into each and every one of those topics and click on the link (found in the lower left corner of the page) to "Stop watching this topic". However, you may also click on that same link in your email notification(s) when you receive it/them, which would be the easiest way for you to stop receiving all the 'old' notifications. #-o

Logging out and/or deleting your cookies will have absolutely no effect . . . nor will the future upgrade to phpBB3 as this is a member-controlled profile setting and not a system-wide setting.
